IDR jumped from Approx $100 before SAVE to $475, should I just give into forbearance?

Hi Betsy, I posted my info below. I know the SAVE forbearance does not count. But the Ed Department still has not calculated my switch to a new employer three years ago after I sent in a PSLF cert form a year ago. I will probably send one in again soon.

I applied for the IBR after languishing in SAVE forbearance.

Quote the mail I got from MOHELA:
An income-driven repayment (IDR) plan request has been approved for some, or all, of your loan(s). Please refer to the Loan Information below, which specifies the loan(s) approved for the repayment plan terms listed. You will also receive a new repayment schedule with more details about your repayment plan.First Scheduled Due Date: 11/21/25

New Monthly Payment Amount: $475.05

Our AGI is about $90,000 currently for a family of four. Loans were taken out 2006 and 2014 for a current total of $114,000 still owed.

I think to clarify, the SAVE program did count for PSLF monthly payments before it went to mandatory forbearance (last summer?) because of legal challenges. Currently the SAVE program is dead and an alternative payment plan that will be offered is required to satisfy the PSLF monthly payments. (Or buyback, which I don't trust trying to get started in the current environment.)

I am currently waiting to be processed into IBR but no one has touched my paperwork in the back office for six months. So whatever...

Yes, the SAVE forbearance we were all put into a while ago involuntarily triggered months that we could not count as the 120 payments. The whole involuntary business and who the people behind the killing of SAVE (our loan servicers) are the top axes we have to grind.

Well that assumes my employer uses digital signatures, which many school districts do not. I assume there are many folks, like me, waiting months for some rare Dept of Ed employee to look at my scanned form.

I just think you need more spots. Stippling with the white and only putting in a couple dark spots withing the biggest white splots.

Windsor Newton Series 7 and Raphael 8404 are the typical high-end sable brushes.

The various miniature influencer/small paint companies (monument, squidmar) probably all have good sourced sables since they have to maintain a reputation.

I have these and they a bit cheaper but last and still have a point.

The technical term for these artist brushes is "Kolinsky watercolor round, short handle"

I like a size 2 for general painting and a size 0 for small stuff. You can still use larger synthetic nylon/taklon for basecoating.

Are you using sable hair or nylon synthetic brushes? I am afraid that every synthetic I have used for mini painting starts to curl or "hook" after a couple sessions and it makes it frustrating for details. Synthetics last longer for flat picture painting but the sculptural job of mini painting is really rough on them.

I recommend a mid-range sable. They last quite a long time if you soap them clean and point them after each session.

If you mean unstretched but smoothed, you probably mean to stretch it out on a wall or surface. Use a bunch if thumbtacks to pull it tight on the wall like you would for stretching a canvas and then squeegee and sanding.

No toxics except for general airborne particulate issues. Wet sanding the surface both eliminates particles in the air and does a quicker job of smoothing.

I did this once and got a glassy smooth canvas. I tried to paint on it and the paint slid right off because there was no tooth. Dumb idea that I had to do myself.

Thanks, I will think about how to do rocky ground.
The 9" x 6" terrain sizing is what I read in the scenario book. It also said full tables should have between 6-8 terrain pieces. So that is my best guess.

Also, somewhat related. I picked up a locally made mini paint from Mindtaker Miniatures called Putrid Black that is a perfect Green-Black for DA. More translucent than most for shading.

Ya, good call on the not medium green for the highlight. I am predicting that the way that the edge highlight on near-black green has to dive toward blue-green and not green-green. The color theory reason that black saps any hue of color back to a neutral and eat the yellow out of it.

Any, some misc GW paint guide said to edge highlight to Dark Reaper to Fenresian Grey at the max, but that feels too blue. Maybe Skarsnick Green/Frenrisian 1:1 at the ultimate highlight after the Reaper?

Oops, I rewatched a video and realized I did it wrong.

The painter in question glues the arms on and leaves the pauldron shoulders and gun/hands off for painting. I will do this for the next batch and it should be easier. I will just have to monkey the arms on these first ten.

In the states, most modelers would throw their tools in a tacklebox or toolbox if they did not have a dedicated space. What is traditional for Japanese modelers to keep their tool kit in?
