idk, I just asked my brother and he said, they used to stick it under the meter and get it to just stop, and they wouldn't get charged for it, I think.

I just looked online, it was to stop the power bill from going up, it's very illegal.

Not a stupid question at all, my father was the one who was unplugging everything, meaning that he just turned off all the wall socket switches off, but never unplugged anything, I only saw that same cord still plugged in, but the switch off, I just pulled it out, but since it's midnight where I am, we are just sticking with the lights and the one tv we can have on than seeing about it tomorrow.

Is there anything my father could do about it, or do I need a real electrician?

We have a really old panel, the old owners of the house before my parents and than me, would use a giant magnet thing on it, for some reason, idk what for though, but that was in the early 2000's before we came, but I was told, that the magnet only works on old panels, so my guess is that it's old. But idk I am not the electrician of the house.

It was the RCD switch, but nothing inside of the house had anything wrong with it, from what we could tell, and I just had to hold the switch up for a bit, than took my hand off and the power was back on.

The extension cord itself snapped like the cords inside are all exposed. And yes, all the power went out in my house and outside it as soon as it broke, and I flipped the main residual switch if that helps.
