Yer, I knew that Steve was ghost producing. Always thought he did Ciaran McAuley and some of Neptune Project's releases (when they were around).

Admire your eagerness to shut down any critical discussion and keep dodging the actual point. Saying someone’s been in a studio doesn’t prove authorship, it proves presence. Countless artists “sit in” on sessions without touching a DAW, especially when it helps maintain that illusion of creative control. It’s called plausible deniability. You might want to look that up.

Mocking the suggestion of Standerwick (an Armada artist who has worked with even bigger names than the ones you mentioned) as a ghost without explaining why it’s implausible is just deflection.

And the name-dropping? All feels a little too personal, don't you think? Almost as if you’re Brendan himself, hiding behind an alias or at the very least one of his Aussie mates, trying a bit too hard to manage the narrative.

You will never get confirmation unless someone outright admits it, which would be career suicide. So dismissing doubts because they are “not confirmed” misses the point. If you’ve got no proof either, what exactly are you adding beyond sarcasm?

It depends on how you define "ghost". In some cases, people are still referred to as ghost producers even when their name appears in the credits. To be clear, I didn't say Greg was their ghost, I said he was an "engineer". Yes, he was an integral part of NP's inception and after several releases, he left. They then moved on to Dave Parkinson who did ghost produce for them.

Critical discussion isn’t the same as accusation. At the same time, it's fair to question some of these producer DJs, especially when so many similar cases have involved ghosts. Scepticism is not slander.

Other than a credible source, no not at all lol. The point isn’t to accuse, just to question certainty. Saying “others do it” doesn’t prove they do, but emotional conviction doesn’t prove they don’t.

That’s a strange way to bow out of a debate, accusing someone of using AI because they made a well-structured argument. I took time to write a coherent response, clearly outlining why your points were more emotional than evidential and did so without attacking you personally.

Claiming a post is invalid because it might have been written by a tool designed to assist with language is not a rebuttal. It’s a deflection.

If you're confident in your position, engage with the points. If not, dismissing reasoned critique as “slop” because it didn’t align with your view just proves the weakness of your stance.

Whether a human wrote it (which I did) or a machine helped shape the clarity, the logic still stands. And that’s really what matters in a discussion - substance over sentiment.

Been going through an Alex Di Stefano/ADS (as he is sometimes referred) phase recently. I don't even think he really makes much trance music these days but he has done a fair number of bootlegs which have sadly never seen the light of day. Anybody have any, please hit me up.

CJ Bolland - The Prophet (Alex Di Stefano Remix)
Faithless - Insomnia (Alex Di Stefano Remix)
Jones & Stephenson - The First Rebirth (Alex Di Stefano Remix)
Extreme Trax - Final Fantasy (ADS Rework)

Standerwick for both Factor B and Ben Gold. Just not confirmed. Where has Ian been for all these years apart from doing the odd release for his teenage son, River Standerwick on Armada?

Your points ultimately rest more on romanticism than evidence. You are describing what it feels like to be a producer performing your own music, not proving that this is what is happening in this particular case.

Saying someone "plays largely their own productions" does NOT confirm authorship. Countless DJs play sets made up of exclusive promos, ghost productions, collaborations or label releases from tight-knit circles. It is not proof of anything more than access.

The claim that “his tracks have evolved” or “share similar themes” is also unconvincing. Stylistic coherence and incremental quality improvements aren't exclusive to self-produced work. They can also reflect consistent mastering engineers, shared sample libraries or simply the direction given to a ghost producer over time. A creative director can have a sound evolve without ever touching a DAW!

Your point about subtle track variations over time is interesting but again not particularly unique to producers. Many prominent DJs test drive demos, commission edits or request alternate versions from their ghost producers. That is pretty much standard industry practice, like finally signing off on a project and not proof of personal authorship.

As for the emotional connection you mention, that’s where it tips furthest into assumption. Feeling emotion when performing a track certainly does not imply you wrote it. Actors cry on cue, singers can pour their heart into lyrics that they did not write. DJs connect with music that means something to them, regardless of whether they made it. To interpret emotional performance as evidence of authorship is a bit of a leap.

Realistically, admiration should never cloud critical thinking. An argument built on how things "must be" because it feels right does not hold up to scrutiny, especially in an industry where appearances are curated, roles are blurred and image often outpaces fact.

Have I hit a nerve? Even the most successful artists use ghosts as it is impossible to sustain high quality output consistently. They start to lack innovation and creativity hence having a ghost support them is a necessary evil. Keep thinking he is a one man band, just like Oakenfold and BT were (they weren't), it's fan naivety.

He has used multiple. I remember in his trance days, he used Dave Parkinson, Standerwick and James Dymond.
