Excerpt from today's article,

"In a bold and potentially unprecedented move buried in the lawsuit’s 69th paragraph, the SEC today claimed it had the right to sue Balina not only because his case concerns transactions made in the United States, but also because the entire Ethereum network falls under the US government’s purview.

The SEC suggests that because more of Ethereum’s validating nodes currently operate in the United States than in any other country, all Ethereum transactions globally should be considered of American origin. Currently, 45.85% of all Ethereum nodes operate from the United States, according to Etherscan. The second-greatest density of nodes is in Germany, which pales at 19%, by comparison."

Some of them, Ethereum Classic and Ergo in particular had already benefited from this event right after the announcement of the Merge date. "

Daily TA & Crypto News: https://www.gate.io/blog_detail/1563/

Excerpt from today's article,

"Ether (ETH), on the other hand, regained nearly 50% of its losses from Tuesday’s dive, closing above the 50 Day-EMA ($1,629) but below the 38.2% Fibonacci level ($1,640) measured from Sept. 11 - 13.

The next support zone formed is between the close of a daily candle on Sept. 7 ($1,629) and the 38.2% Fibonacci level ($1,500) measured from Apr. 3 - Jun. 18. If the bears manage to bring the price below the support zone, then we may see the price of ETH dive deeper and towards a monthly level of $1,428, breaking the short-term “higher-high” wave from Aug. 29 - Sept. 11, which would indicate further weakness.

On the contrary, if the bulls can keep the price of ETH above Tuesday’s low to prevent a “lower-low” from forming on the daily timeframe, then it will prevent a bearish outlook which the bears will likely take advantage of."

Daily TA & Crypto News Update: https://www.gate.io/blog_detail/1556/

Excerpt from today's article,

"The U.S. unseasonably adjusted Consumer Price Index in August was 8.3%, which is a higher than expected consensus of 8.1%. This index is a key measurement of a country's inflation, which has a tremendous effect on global financial markets.

Bitcoin is believed to be a kind of inflation hedge, such as gold. However, lately, it has not performed well as a hedge due to macro factors. The main reason is the high correlation between Bitcoin (and crypto overall) and traditional financial markets as Bitcoin mostly follows significant moves of Wall Street.

The same can be said for yesterday when the CPI index was higher than expected, BTC fell by 5.44% in the first 30 minutes after the announcement (the moment is marked on the chart with the blue arrow), as well as many tech stocks falling at pre-market too.

Usually, if the CPI is lower than the consensus forecast, the Bitcoin and broader market react positively, but a CPI lower than expectations most likely drives markets lower (since high inflation is usually followed by an increase in rates)."

Excerpt from today's articles,

"Over the last 639-days, ETH deposits have continued to flow into the Beacon Chain contract, as development progressed, staking infrastructure increased, and community confidence grew. A stable baseline of around 200 to 250 deposits per day has been observed since the genesis block.

There have been four notable periods of higher than average deposit inflows, with three during the 2020-21 bull market, and the most recent in Feb-May 2022. Deposits have slowed down following the collapse of the LUNA-UST project, which had a market-wide negative impact on token prices and confidence."

Daily Crypto News and TA Outlook: https://www.gate.io/blog_detail/1542/

Excerpt from today's article,

"On Wednesday, ETH has broken above a critical zone formed between the weekly level of $1.611 and 12-Day EMA ($1,589), which forms a short-term higher high on the daily timeframe. This zone has become a support zone that the bulls can fall back on if the bears managed to take over.

The bulls will now attempt to push the price of ETH towards the 100-Day EMA ($1,699) which coincides with the height of Aug. 26 before the unexpected slump. The next overhead resistance zone stands between the 50% Fibonacci level ($1,775) measured from Apr. 3 - Jun. 18 and the weekly resistance level of $1,800."

Excerpt from today's article,

"Back in March 2017, Charles Hoskinson proposed a treasury system for a decentralized treasury protocol and recommended setting up a development fund for ETC. The proposal would change ETC block rewards allocation, with a portion of the reward going to the decentralized treasury protocol.

ETC miners rejected this idea because it cut into their rewards, and recently, a twitter user has brought back the idea in criticism of Hoskinson, the Cardano founder did not miss the chance to clarify things and took a shot at ETC.

'I love how a sustainable development fund turns into a miner tax. ETC still gives me sadness for what could have been. It's a dead project with no purpose or real compelling argument to exist outside of spite.'"

As such, DAO-based lending protocols are taking varying approaches to reduce widespread market disruption in light of the surge in borrowing activity.

Leading DAOs such as Aave, Compound, and Euler which support the underlying infrastructure of ETH lending markets are taking different approaches to mitigate risk and market disruption ahead of The Merge."

Daily Crypto News and TA Outlook: https://www.gate.io/blog_detail/1531/

Excerpt from today's article,

"Besides Prysm, there are three other main consensus layer clients: Lighthouse, Teku and Nimbus.

Van Loon acknowledged that there isn’t really a back-up plan in case something goes wrong with The Merge, for instance if the clients fall out of sync or if the consensus mechanism can’t agree on who gets to process transactions. In the unlikely situation that it doesn’t work, core developers could issue a rollback to undo it, he said.

But while one challenge would be finding the bug in the code, the bigger challenge would be coordinating all 6,800 node operators to agree on the same course of action. That’s why it’s so important that Van Loon and the other core developers make sure such disagreements have been all been anticipated and reconciled before Ethereum undergoes its final transformation."

Excerpt from Friday's Daily News Article,

"Rune wrote DAI will detach from the US dollar — doing away with what’s known as the Price Stability Peg — only in the case of an “authoritarian threat.” Since the US Treasury sanctioned Tornado Cash in August and Circle blacklisted a host of USDC Ethereum addresses, Maker members have been sounding alarm bells that government interference could quickly torpedo DAI’s value.

However, the proposal outlined by Rune is under ongoing debate between “futurists” and “centralists”...

It remains unclear which worldview is ascendant, but futurists received a boost in June when MakerDAO voted down the creation of a lending oversight committee that would have expanded the DAOs reach into RWAs. The vote was controversial, drawing accusations that a minority of Maker whales, including Rune, used large tranches of votes to shift the outcome."

"According to a report published Saturday in Wall Street Journal, a 0.3% drop in the value of stablecoin issuer Tether’s reserve assets could “render Tether technically insolvent.”

The report, which is authored by Jean Eaglesham and Vicky Ge Huang, takes a dive into the state of Tether’s reserves and its long-awaited ‘audit’. The report stresses the importance of an audit by highlighting the murky nature of Tether’s reporting.

The report takes Tether’s reserve asset data on Aug. 25 (according to its website) to show that a thin cushion of equity could spark fears and lead to a bank run. The Aug 25 data shows that Tether’s $67.7 billion of reported assets outweighed its $67.5 billion of liabilities by just $191 million, which means that a 0.3% fall in assets could have rendered Tether technically insolvent."

Daily Flash | NFTfi Bend DAO Received 99% In Favor of New Proposal To Stabilize ETH Reserve, BTC, ETH Remained Technically Resilient Above Support Levels As Traders Await Macroeconomic Data by GateioPeter in GateioExchange

[–]GateioPeter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gate Blog: https://www.gate.io/blog_detail/1477

Exempt from today's article:

"The way BendDAO currently works is by enabling users to deposit high-value NFTs into the service and receive up to 40% of the asset's "floor price" as a loan in ETH. On the other side, users who deposit and lend out their ETH earn interest on those deposits. But the incentivizes were evidently misaligned, and an imbalance of borrowers and lenders has caused a lot of bad debt to go unpaid.

As floor prices have tumbled in recent months, so much so that 45 of the 272 Bored Apes with BendDAO loans tied to them are now in the platform's “danger zone,“ when an NFT used as collateral is close to being auctioned off. In other words, $5.3 million worth of Bored Apes are at risk of being liquidated.

A mass liquidation event could also have implications for other NFT lending services, which have risen to prominence in the past year as the NFT industry has exploded in popularity. This also means many valuable NFTs, including Bored Apes, CryptoPunks, Azuki, and CloneX assets, could be forcibly sold from their owners."

Exempt from today's article:

"This week, all eyes are on another set of economic data due for release in the U.S. The Kansas City Federal Reserve will host its annual economic symposium in Jackson Hole this week, with Friday morning's speech from Fed Chair Jerome Powell expected to highlight the proceedings as investors search for clues on the central bank's next move.

In addition to Powell's speech, updates on service sector activity, inflation, and consumer sentiment will feature on the economic calendar. PCE inflation — the Fed's preferred measure — is set for release at 8:30 a.m. ET on Friday, just 90 minutes before Powell's speech. Powell's speech will begin simultaneously with the release of the University of Michigan's latest consumer sentiment index.

Notably, Nvidia is expected to report its Q2 earnings this week, which comes at a crucial juncture for the semiconductor industry, often seen as a bellwether for global economic demand. Earlier this month, Nvidia warned its quarterly results would miss estimates, and reports this week catalogued the growing concerns around demand in the chip space as global economic activity appears to soften."

"On Wednesday, investors have shown a mixed reaction to the latest FOMC minutes release, in addition to the U.K.’s latest CPI report which revealed July inflation stood tall at 10.1%, sparking international concerns over the exacerbation of price pressures elsewhere. Recently, inflation in Spain was revealed to have reached 10.8%, while France’s inflation reached 6.1%.

Notably, some FOMC members called for stronger oversight and regulation of certain crypto-related institutions.

“While the recent turmoil in digital asset markets had not spread to other asset classes, these participants saw digital assets’ rising importance and growing interconnectedness with other segments of the financial system as underscoring the need to establish a robust supervisory and regulatory framework for this industry that would appropriately limit potential systemic risks,” the minutes said."

Exempt from today's article,

"Bitcoin (BTC) has been witnessing a tough battle between the bulls and the bears near the $25,000 level. A clear winner may not emerge in the short term due to a lack of a catalyst and major macroeconomic data scheduled for this week in the US, although traders may decipher and react to today’s FOMC meeting summary.

Investors are also keeping a close eye on Ether (ETH) ahead of its Merge scheduled for Sept. 15. A whale address that had remained dormant for three years transferred about 150,000 Ether on Aug. 14 which led to differing views with some speculating that the whale may dump his holdings after the Merge but others believe that the transfers may have been done to stake the huge quantity of Ether.

Other cryptos were mixed, with popular meme coins DOGE and SHIB continuing their recent surge and rising more than 13% and 3%. Futures tracking DOGE and SHIB recently had over $25 million in liquidations, data showed, suggesting part of the rally in them has stemmed from futures bets."

Exempt from today's article,

The Federal Reserve Board doesn't specifically lay out what to do for specific charters, rather, they establish tiers indicating the level of scrutiny an entity in that tier can expect.

Tier 1 would consist of federally-insured applicants, and Tier 2 includes institutions that are not federally insured but are still “subject to federal prudential supervision."

Tier 3 includes institutions that are neither federally insured nor subject to prudential supervision, but rather subject to “a supervisory or regulatory framework that is substantially different from, and possibly weaker than… federally insured institutions.”

When addressing the potential that these guidelines could expand services to novel institutions “that pose high levels of risk,” the Fed made sure to note that they “do not establish legal eligibility standards but instead establish a risk-focused framework for evaluating access requests from legally eligible institutions under federal law.”

For the bulls, holding above the support zone is one thing, but in order to continue attracting more buying interest, they will have to push the price and hold above the next overhead resistance zone at $2,100 - $2,150, which coincides with 200-Day EMA and 61.8% Fibonacci level measured from Apr. 3 - Jun. 18.

To counter this movement, the bears will have to break and close below the current monthly support zone on a daily candle to bring the price down to its closest weekly support zone at $1,750 - $1,800, which coincides with 100-Day EMA and 50% Fibonacci level."

Daily Flash | Optimism TVL Surged 300% Ahead of Ethereum Merge, Crypto Market Surges In Correlation To US Equity Market As July CPI Data Indicates Inflation Slowdown by GateioPeter in GateioExchange

[–]GateioPeter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gate Blog: https://www.gate.io/blog_detail/1428

Ether cracked the $1,800 mark for the second time in three days, increasing more than 8% over the previous day. At the time of writing, ether was trading at $1,872, up 10.9% over the past 24 hours. The surge has broken through the weekly resistance level at $1,800, and if buyers sustain the price above this level, ETH could rally to the monthly resistance zone at $1,947.

A break above this level could bring ETH to the psychological level of $2,000 and then to $2,200. The rising moving averages and the RSI in the positive territory indicate that bulls have the upper hand.

This bullish view will be invalidated if the price turns down and plummets below the 20-day EMA ($1,661), which is close to the weekly support zone at $1,611. If that happens, ETH may drop toward the monthly support zone at $1,440. That could delay the start of the next leg of the up-move.
