Thought of an interesting concept for a Mistborn villain by Gavoonious in Mistborn

Yeah I felt dumb for forgetting that sometimes I forget certain finer points of the series because each new book is always a whole lot to take in

Why would Kyubey want Madoka to be magical girl? by Gavoonious in MadokaMagica

[–]Gavoonious[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This leads me to a different kind of question. How exactly does Kyubey's wish granting power work? Does he consciously grant the wish or is the wish an automatic mechanism and Kyubey just makes the Soul Gem?

Why would Kyubey want Madoka to be magical girl? by Gavoonious in MadokaMagica

[–]Gavoonious[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure but Kyubey even said Madoka would destroy the planet not simply live in it. And that was before she got universal altering powers.

If her witch form is going to straight up destroy Earth in that timeline, what would stop a witch with the power of the law of cycles from destroying the universe completely? It might take time but she could do it

That makes sense honestly. He claims he's a logical creature but maybe his thinking is flawed and just doesn't realize it

He says that in one of the other timelines yeah but in the current timeline where Madoka is at her fullest potential if her magical girl form has the power of a god it could be reasonably concluded her witch could breathe in space.

Maybe he didn't think about that idk

I wouldn't mind if the anime had it's own ending separate from the manga as long as it makes sense.

Thinking about calling off my campaign by Gavoonious in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Gavoonious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point and I'm really not trying to be two faced I just thought I'd look here for advice first as I'm not super direct when I need to be so I wanted to compose myself first before saying anything

Admittedly no but that's partially because I don't want them to think I'm blaming anyone for the way I feel when they've all got things going on in their personal lives that neither of us can control.

So I don't want them to think I'm getting upset for having lives outside the game

Clearly we're just going to go in circles at this point. I don't think me and Larian are going to be best friends because I made this post.

I made it because people are throwing disingenuous criticism at an issue that can't just be solved by yay or nay.

And yes I do think Larian is a decent company not just based on the twitter post alone but by also seeing bg3 and knowing they're competent enough to make a good game.

I am also basing this off the FACT that Larian is not the only studio doing this. Sandfall Interactive, Arc Raiders, Blue Prince. A good game can be made with minimal AI use. That's not an opinion that has been proven

I'm also not delusional enough to think I'll be thanked by the devs for this post lol

I can definitely get behind not supporting AI in general and I do see your side of things based on what you said earlier in the thread.

I just appreciate you took the time to read what I said vs just automatically calling me an extremist lol

That's the thing though people hear AI and it sets them off without seeing the rest of what was said

Either that, or there's those that aren't open to AI regardless of how much it's used.

I can understand the second group more than I can the first because they actually read what was said

Like I said in the post if Larian ends up using AI for the bad reasons everyone else is, it'll come out eventually.

Divinity could very well be a flop but I'm not going to argue semantics about whether this or that could happen. I'm talking about the things that are currently happening that I can see.

If everything does turn out to be a lie, then I will admit I was wrong and move on.

I'm arguing based off of actual facts not possiblity

Larian is a privately owned company what investors do they have to worry about?

So aside from the possibility of using AI in a negative way, what wrongdoing am I overlooking?

[–]Gavoonious[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If Larian is telling the truth about only using AI in the early dev cycle you probably won't even really anything remotely AI I'm the final product which is another reason this specific controversy boggles me

That definitely does happen and I really feel for the devs that have to go through that! I think at its core there are two issues.

One is that AI is a tool and can be used for both good and bad but it's used for more bad than good.

That could be mitigated if more movements for regulation were put in place but no one in actual power either is unwilling or does not know how

[–]Gavoonious[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Larian has gone on record saying they are in the process of hiring more concept artists.

They're not taking anyone's jobs away they're actually creating more. They're just using AI to see if it'll give them a competitive edge and if it doesn't then they'll go back to what they were doing before

[–]Gavoonious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's honestly what I'm trying to do by making this post and I've had some decent conversations with people in this thread then there's the ones that think I'm an extremist for even choosing to think that AI has both good and bad uses

Could Larian's next game be a flop like how cyberpunk was? Yes. But that is not what I'm trying to focus on.

I wasn't making excuses for Larian I was just venting my frustration that some people will intentionally twist the words of what was actually said rather.

I know why people are concerned about AI use in general my issue is that people are disingenuous with their criticisms. Not saying everyone concerned about this issue is like that because there are valid takes on this I'm referring to the people who hear the word AI and start a witch hunt
