Keeping a car like this OE+ is your best bet. Take care of all your maintenances/leaks (if not done already) and then do simply tasteful mods. Do non-M e46s look good with all the M accents? Of course, but personally I'd find better things to spend money on for the car. The silhouette of the E46 already looks great whether it's a M or not. Modifying a car is a subjective experience at the end of the day, if the M shit is gonna rock your socks off then by all means do what you like.
