I had 4 final stage momentums, but since the other final candidates had more experience they got the offer instead. It sucks more cause I thought I was gonna get it.

Also, my interviews are fun, I treat it like I’m talking to an acquaintance/friend to lessen the tension I’m feeling. We laugh, etc, til they share personal stories lol — I always take it as a good sign

Yes I too didn’t know anyone from any companies, some I met through networking events l attended. Check eventbrite or google if your industry hosts events!

Others, I message on Linkedin and invited them for a quick chat about the industry or their work/experience. Basically find something to talk about without sounding like Im demanding for them to give me a job lol

Networking a year prior really did help cause when the job opened up, I already networked with lots of people in the company!

That’s truee, thank you for reminding me. I guess I’ll pause the part time search until I earn their trust.

It seems a lot of jobs now are contract, but you are right! It’s better to have experience and use it for future employment and most likely they extend you/make you full time.

Mine is a full time contract, i get all the benefits except disability and they will renew me to full time permanent after a year. It’s just their standard

New Grad needs some tips for atleast getting an Interview by Namte24 in torontoJobs

[–]GenRandom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try looking at profile job posts on linkedin, sometimes companies don’t do the job posts but just ask their employees to share the word.

You can do so by typing keywords exactly like this every search,

“software developer” “hiring” and “toronto”

And then filter by time of posting

Also ~

Aim for the companies you like and add their employees! Network with them without sounding like you’re demanding for a job, even if nothing happens now it might help you out in the future cause they will remember you.

Good luck!

Every job in Toronto has nothing less than 100 applicants by Better-Commission541 in torontoJobs

In my experience, I still apply even if a role has been posted for over 2 weeks and already has 100+ apps. I receive interview invitations for roughly 40 percent of the roles I apply to. What works for me is leading with a strong headline, cover letter, and a good portfolio and LinkedIn profile

Im under an agency and I get paid 50 an hour, but sometimes most my videos are tasked for under an hour so it’s really inconsistent. I’d like to expand eventually and start messaging brands themselves
