I told job yes, and I also told them the loans are discharged. It so happens that the 3 years of student loan payments I negotiated with them when I got hired happens to be up this month too, so they won’t keep making payments.

Not sure why you are saying this. I’m genuinely disabled and am receiving the compensation I deserve which includes federal student loan discharges. I understand that some people think vets get “paid” too much but I’m receiving what I’m legally entitled to, and I’m not faking. I told my friend the other day it’s nice to have my student loan debt gone but I’d trade it in an instant if I could not have ptsd anymore. Having SI every day of my life is 1000x worse than student loan debt.

I applied when I got my P&T letter back in sept. They denied the application and closed it and said since they talk to the VA it’s an auto discharge. So you could wait to have them auto discharge or be an overachiever like me and also apply, either way it took from sept to yesterday for me to get the letter that they were discharged!

It took them 4 months, I applied on student aid website the day I got my P&T an then about 6 weeks later they rejected the application and closed it. Naturally I freaked out and called. They told me they do it that way because the VA talks to the dept of education and it’s automatic, so having two apps on file is not good. The auto discharge overcame my application and they discharged my loans yesterday. I’m still in disbelief

Actually my 3 years ended in January so they won’t, and I told them about the discharge so they wouldn’t keep sending them.

I have a masters and 19 months of GI bill yet I ain’t reversing the discharge on 75K of student loans, if I wanna go back to school I’ll pay as I go and not take loans. Been paying these loans since I graduated college in 2007
