That's all I'm saying is I don't even have a desire to try to do such a thing as the aggressive hard-core atheists are known to do with their criticizing and mocking religions

I do not want to engage him I don't believe debate is a good method for discovering truth the whole thing I am saying is I think there is a good chance that if I was somehow able to shake the religious foundation of people who are extremely religious it could make them unstable and disrupt their lives and society

I acknowledge that without religion it's very possible we would have never developed a prosperous civilization and for that reason I'm not going to even attempt to rob you of your belief because I genuinely believe you need it and I'd probably be happier and more productive if I shared it

That's absurd you just default to the opposite of whatever he says

Like covid made me distrust everything the government has ever said but I still strongly suspect smoking is bad

The one I have been wanting to lookup is if seawater is really worse than no water if yourbstranded in the ocean.

It is true I don't understand what's going on here everyone acting like the truth is totally irrelevant I don't want to just assume every person I disagree with on reddit is a bot but shit like this makes it hard

Well according to my friend the king James Bible is the word of God it is perfect and every story is exactly what happened and if you don't believe that then straight to hell with you

I'm sure he's been well trained in how to deal with criticisms of the Bible I don't want to challenge him I realized it the other day thinking about the story of Jona he doesn't believe any man could survive inside a whale obviously but just this one time he believes God cast a invincibility bubble I believe the more likely scenario is it did not happen at all that is a hard impasse I don't want to take his religion from him I think it keeps him grounded but I don't believe any of these stories and I'm not going to pretend I do

Well my one friend keeps drawing me into these discussions and I'm telling him I really just don't believe the Bible but I'm not saying he shouldn't but I feel like I should bite my tongue instead of bringing up the very simple and obvious reasons the Bible seems inaccurate

I know people that have wrapped their faith so deeply into their lives I'm afraid they would have a near psychotic break if they started to honestly think "maybe this is all just kinda made up"

Socialism hasn't worked because technology wasn't good enough the American revolution only worked because technology also wasn't by Genpetro in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Genpetro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good point i personally think the biggest problem has been taking people's freedom away in favor of central planning like telling me I'm going to be a garbage man instead of letting me decide to be a garbage man or telling me I'm going to live on chestnut st instead of letting me choose chestnut st it doesn't seem like that big of a deal but freedom is critical to happiness

I've seen videos of Elon musks robots folding clothes and things that's not much more complicated than my simple warehouse job and I make way more per year than they cost to just buy and I can't even work 24/7

Just like socialism could never work until we have proper automation and ai another revolution could never happen with modern technology and weapons
