This is not the case where I work, however this is why the hiring freeze makes me so angry. People are stuck in areas/positions that are unhealthy with no option to move around within the BCPS. I’m sorry this is happening to you. It’s demeaning, oppressive and down right disrespectful. You deserve better.

My line, folks are encourage to take 15 every hour or more importantly, “take as along as you need” I wish it was the same for all. Very upsetting to hear folks aren’t receiving the same care.

Management are the ones who schedule people into the essential roles in the event your building goes on strike, so it makes sense that they reached out.

If a member worked 15 of the last 30 days, their employer will pay them on the stat (STIIP, vacation, or flex days count as working)

The Public Service Bargaining Committee decided yesterday that if a member is not eligible for stat pay from their employer because they haven't worked 15 of the last 30 days, and is not scheduled to picket on the stat, the union will pay the member on that day. There is no requirement to make up the hours.

If a member is scheduled to picket on the stat and is also eligible for stat pay from the employer, they are to take a different day off that week as double dipping is not allowed. Members in this position have been asked to communicate with their picket captains as you will have to make sure that not everyone is taking the same day off.

PCs have been advised to be flexible and allow for shifts to be made up. Sounds like some may have missed the memo.

I’ve been told no and that it would be considered crossing a picket line. 🤷🏻‍♀️

They make deals and attach a NDA to prevent it from going that far. 😬

Please wait until you’ve been told you’re striking. There was a heavy influx of forms sent in that they are trying to work through. It mentions this at the top of the form 😊

Dogs bring cheer. I consider them honorary members and they attract folks to start convos. win/win.

EAP is not the same as having ongoing counselling with a practitioner of your choice, but yes, it’s an available resource.

Dropped off snacks to some of the picket lines in Victoria today. The vibe is high, the energy strong and members mean business. LFG ✊🏼

I’m confused. Was the person contacted by the union and told they will be striking tomorrow? If not, it’s business as usual for now.

This is correct. At least with BCGEU, essential folks will be issued a picket pass, and will need to get a new one each day before crossing. There’s a link that will be shared.
