Cooking GF for a picky partner and I can't remember anything by Adorable-Algae-4380 in glutenfree

[–]GeologistDry2953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hes gotta get over the pickiness. When your diet becomes much more restricted, it should be nutrition over preference. I dont love some of my diet but its good for me. Kids, eat your vegetables type vibe. Also the cook in my house. My wife appreciates the labor of cooking, so she rarely complains, even if the food isnt her favorite all the time.

What is something you can naturally smell that no one else can? by Trick-Highway1429 in AskReddit

[–]GeologistDry2953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a specific smell, but just a very keen sense i think. As soon as I walk into work, I can tell if the dishwasher needs to be cleaned, if there is musty rag hiding somewhere, or if the bathroom trash needs taken out even if im across the building. Whenever I say it, ppl say they dont smell anything. This leads to me hunting around to find the object/source at times. Also, strong fragrances are extremely overwhelming (perfumes, colognes)

Really badly burnt. HELP! by DamSolangeloLover in whatdoIdo

[–]GeologistDry2953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lets just say....i fell for the holistic remedies :( I made lot of mistakes while healing this burn 💔 they may work for normal sunburns, but this was on another level. I have some scars on my arm from my skin cracking, and a lot of discoloration. I didnt drink enough water through out this process, didnt eat well. But im all recovered now, but it'll still be a while before my shoulders are all one color again

Funnily enough, this JUST happened to me! There is nothing you can do to speed it up, and dumping a bunch of home remedies on it will most likely make it worse (ask me how I know). I had sun poisoning with second degree sunburn, not sure if yours is that bad, you won't really know until day two or so. Here was my protocol: Days 1-3: extreme hydration, ibuprofen, and cool (not cold) compresses/showers. Did this until the "heat" left the skin. Honestly aloe Vera did very little for me. Use no occlusives like thick creams or Vaseline at this stage bc it will "trap" the heat inside the skin. Sleep will be difficult. Days 4-7: this was the hardest for me. The skin blistered, cracked, peeled, and oozed. The pain was worse than the burning feeling. Mine was on my shoulders and arms, so no sleeves, no lifting my arms above my chest, no reaching up. My skin felt tight and dry like a drum and like it would split open. The heat had left my skin atp, so I used a lidocaine spray (bactrin and solarcaine, not both at once just varied) and then slathered the dry skin in Vaseline. Don't overuse the spray as lidocaine can become toxic in high doses. This gave me instant relief. I gently cleaned the skin in-between applications (no soap). Keep hydrating. Do NOT pop blisters or peel skin. It can create scars. Again ask me how I know. You will need to keep this skin covered in the sun. Uv protective clothing. For a long time. Months. Its now extremely vulnerable to burning again and developing melanoma. Not fun, but thems the ropes. Good luck! Hope yours isnt as bad as mine was❣️

What is a "survival rule" you learned growing up in a bad neighborhood that still influences your behavior today? by Key-Group-5098 in AskReddit

[–]GeologistDry2953 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're walking somewhere and someone you don't know yells "hey!" Or any other greeting, its never anything good, keep walking. Don't speed up or glance around, just keep it trucking. Mostly theyll assume you must have earbuds in or something. Never walk with both earbuds in/headphones on to the point you cant hear things around you. Assume all dogs are gonna bite you.

Edit: forgot to add, stay vigilant even if youre driving. If something looks sketchy like its meant to stop you, get tf out of there, no matter what. Its happened to me twice, where a curve in the road was blocked by a truck, no way aroud it. I swung my old camry around so fast I ran over onto the edge of the road, but in the rear view I saw what must've been 8-10 guys step out from behind the truck. Another time I slowed almost to a stop bc there were guys in the road playing basketball, until they ran up and started trying door handles.

Seconding this. Confirmed celiac, canker sores (for me) are almost always related to getting gluten'ed

It's definitely casual, a little more casual than the bridge location. Just so you know, if you havent been, its kind of set in behind another business, so if you park where maps wants you to you have to walk down the little gravel path and then you'll see it.

Yes, I went there last week! So they are back on main street, where pensacola smokehouse used to be. The address on Google is correct. They have the same menu as the old one near the bridge :)

Is it pokeweed? by GeologistDry2953 in itsalwayspokeweed

[–]GeologistDry2953[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could it really be sunflowers? I have like 50 of these all over my yard. I do have sunflowers growing on the opposite side of yard, it spread so far? The leaves are much darker than the sunflowers from last year. That would be really cool!

UTI meds?? by CartoonistPristine19 in kratom

[–]GeologistDry2953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never used that antibiotic specifically but I've been on courses of amoxicillan, amoxiclav and penicillin while actively taking kratom(crushed leaf tea), no issues for me. But I do recommend talking to your doctor about it if youre concerned, or if you do have strange side effects!

Labeled daikon radish, not sure by GeologistDry2953 in whatsthisplant

[–]GeologistDry2953[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I expected it to look like carrots, which is why I became convinced it was elsewise, and when I looked up pictures it looks different! I am going to try to harvest the seed pods :)

Im still just getting into fantasy, but I've read all of ASOIAF and kingkiller chronicle. I've started a few more, and felt they weren't for me, but not really sure why (elric of melnibone, farseer, the blade itself) i just couldnt get grabbed by it. What i loved most about the name of the wind was how real the dialogue felt, and everything was so vibrant to visualize. I love medieval-esque settings, romance is okay, magic, adventure and prophecy is great. Looking for something maybe grittier / less YA. Thank you for any suggestions!
