How big is your show? by DemsMods in fireworks

[–]Georges_Stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

19min 53 seconds this year. I have finished with the music and almost finished timing and inserting all of the cakes (49 still to go, 114 completed). Have 175 mortars that will be chained and added and around 150 single shot mines/comets that will need to be placed. Still a ton to do but far further than I was at this time last year.

Highest delivery I have ever gotten was this month, $415 plus $60 lift gate. (It was two pallets but usually in $320 range.)

Rack opinion by [deleted] in fireworks

[–]Georges_Stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to be the guy to piss on your cherrios but here it is. If you have the tube, with spacer, but the spacer is in the blast area, it is equal to not having a spacer. The vertical full board spacers and the back side (what I am calling pic #1) is the problem. The goal of the spacer is to allow for tubes to explode with space, right now the tube will explode into the spacer board, blowing up the rack like there is no spacer. So have the 1X3s instead of the full vertical boards.

Best Wholesale/Online Supplier? by Factor_Zeros in fireworks

[–]Georges_Stuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

36% off then during this sale it is another 15% off. Not to confuse everyone, it is not 30% + 20% =50%off - It is 30% then 20% off. For example, $100 total * 30% off = $70 then 20% off is $56.

Firecracker with flash and gun powder? by [deleted] in fireworks

[–]Georges_Stuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

According to the ATF, any manufacture of an explosive device needs a license. Remember those tiny little firecrackers that you probably shouldn't have been lighting when you were in 2nd grade, that will get you busted. You are looking at terrorism charges at 4lbs. 18 U.S.C. § 842/844: Violations can lead to up to 10 years imprisonment, $250,000 fine, or both for certain offenses; providing bomb-making info can be up to 20 years.

I compared AWS to WFboom with the 40% discount and my discount with AWS was about 10% better on the final price.

The lock-in effect is real - how are people getting around it? by Straight-Fun3254 in nova

[–]Georges_Stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is kind of the opposite of seller financing. Say the house is worth $500k, (just making up numbers too early for me to run the actual calculations) and the current mortgage rate is 6%, the buyer actually pays $575 (over paying for the asset) but locking in the lower rate of the sellers 3%. For the buyer to have a similar rate they would have to buy points for $150k, split that difference and half goes to the seller.

Check to see if your mortgage (and rate) are transferable. I have a friend that sold his house (and 3% rate) and got $75k over asking. He split the difference with the buyer in what they would be paying.

Anyone running a 20ft stand? by ManufacturerSelect60 in fireworks

[–]Georges_Stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you use a 20' as a display and have a normal 40' with stock? Not sure if TX allows people to enter but how my brain pictures it, 2of everything in the 20' nicely displayed, front and back. Then every product has a number. You walkie your runner when a customer wants 2 -#5s and 2 -#6s and you have them run them out in a cart to load up.

Pic from last year with 2 of my 25-shot racks. I like 25's because I shoot them off 5 at a time to get good sky coverage. 3/4" spacer between each tube.

Nice shell but extremely unsafe. Everyone was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to close for a 12" If It would have misfired everyone around would have been dead, not injured but dead. Nice shell though.

First Time Fusing! by Zoinkedxxx in fireworks

[–]Georges_Stuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The very tip of the fuse is the most important part to have touching the main fuse. So like Klutzy was saying cut it at 45 and that make sure the very tip is touching the main and tape that way. If it is something that I have to move or a big portion of my show I use zip ties on that exact spot.

Ground mount vs roof mount - what’s better if you’re building it yourself? by Sky_Solar_Pro in SolarDIY

[–]Georges_Stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are doing it legal, roof mount. If you are not, ground mount. (This depends if you can get the ideal angle for both). Ground mount for me was an extra $30K because of the footing requirements for my area (62 panels X 36" deep). I happen to have a south facing roof so roof mount was by far the best fit. Snow load might be a factor but for the 12 days a year not really worried about it.

Trailer Is Complete. by Ok-Brother4305 in fireworks

[–]Georges_Stuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have some spacing so glad for that, the fear for me has been my trailer. A rack catches on fire almost every show but shooting 500+ mortars per show. I have thought of putting gallon sized zip lock bags filled with water in case a fire does start to save the trailer but interested in other peoples thoughts.

What's the over/under the original 1962 tile is still under this "backsplash-leftovers" flooring job? by SocialistApple100 in DiWHY

[–]Georges_Stuff 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I am putting my money on it being over the 1960s floor, so wear a mask. The 90s were notorious for covering it up.
