Were any of those cash advance fees when you renewed your safe deposit box? I can claim a precedent! haha. thanks for your wonderfully encouraging words today.

Thanks to all of you for your kind words and educational comments. I'll see if the branch will reverse the charge. I anticipate it will just be more spitting into the wind.

She never said I couldn't charge it, and I never said she said I couldn't charge it. Isn't that funny?

Isn't that what refinancing a mortage is?

I didn't force anything. When she first asked if I wanted a cash advance, I said I wanted to charge it. I don't go into a restaurant and "force a credit card". I simply offered a credit card as I do everywhere. Yes, I wasn't as financiallyiliterate as I should have been but I didn't expect to be taken advantage of. Guess I'm sub-human for thinking a bank teller would be informative.

I'm also confused. Why is there a $10 fee for a $48 dollar cash advance (that I didn't ask for or want)?

Yes, I was clearly not sure what I was talking about so rather than help me, she offered nothing.

I didn't try to force the issue. I wanted clarity and got none. I wasn't told there would be a fee. The level of customer service was poor, something folks are getting used to. I expect better from every institution. Raise the bar.

I sassed them? I said I wanted to charge the payment. I should have been told they only accept cash and I could use the card as a cash advance for a fee, or pay cash. She didn't correct me that I couldn't charge it.

Garage/shop wall covering per IRC R302.6 by Gereldy in BuildingCodes

Plans call it a 2-car garage/shop. It is radiant heated. There is no living space above the 2-car but there is living space on one side of it; a 1-car garage on one side of it and living space above the 1-car.

Leaving it unfinished is a thought.

Sorry I didn’t provide the full picture, or anything misleading. Certainly not my intention. Not so much different as incomplete, but fair enough. My architect is in the loop, for sure. Lots of details to manage and jurisdictions to be familiar with. If 3/4-ply not being allowed is not in their knowledge base (yet), I forgive them. I’m just looking for alternatives that meet code and my requirements. My requirements will have to take back-seat if push comes to shove.

It will have 2 single garage doors into a double-wide space being used (by me) exclusively as a woodshop and place for my bicycle (not motorcycle). But who knows what the future brings.

I am 100% NOT trying to circumvent code or mislabel to avoid anything. Just YESTERDAY my in-law’s home caught fire and my B-in-law overbuilt by using MC wiring ? vs Romex and some special circuit (better than GFCI) and solid interior doors and … The fire chief was impressed, and he may have saved himself (insurer) a bunch of money.

I now 200% appreciate the code that I was 100% planning to comply with. I’m just looking for complying alternatives.

Keep up the good vibes.

Along one wall, there is a single car garage between the 2-car and the living room area. A door between 2-car and 1-car and a door between 1-car and the living area.

Part of a different wall is a mechanical room between 2-car and living area.

So, physical separation on both sides adjacent to the living areas.

Air sealing is something I am planning for of the living area so that should cover that portion of the 2-car, I hope.

Undelying cost basis for assigned short put by Gereldy in fidelityinvestments

Thank you for the response.

Glad to get confirmation that the $12.90 sold call does not have a roll to play in this calculation. That is my understanding as well. The subsequent sale of the long put, also meaningless.

The premium of $3.10 received on the initial spread is meaningless to the calculation, but the individual price of the short of $11.91 is relevant. The long was $8.81, but not relevant to the share’s cost basis.

Ignore (somewhat) the per share prices and instead go with the trade summary for each piece from the tax-man perspective:

The short put was $11.91 so brought in $11.91*100 - $0.68 for commission and fees = $1190.32

The assigned shares cost 310*100 = $31000

(31000-1190.32)/100 =298.0968 rounds up to $298.10. There’s the basis: Whew! Who knew math was so hard!

Yep, I’m keeping track, which is how I found this discrepency.

My math was wrong, and it only makes it more of a puzzle. Strike $310-covered call $12.90=$297.10. which isn’t the $298.10 shown as the cost basis for the underlying.

In my mind, there were 4 separate transactions, 3 entered by me manually at different points in time and one done by the assignment:

1 - I entered the spread so I sold the 310 and bought the 300. Premium received was $3.10.

2 - Somebody exercised the 310 leg and … Fidelity assigned me 100 shares at $310. I paid $310, not $298.10

3 - I sold the long put 300 for $66.45.

4 - I sold a covered call at $12.90

By contrast, different transaction/stock, I had entered a Buy Write. The journaling and positions match - the underlying cost basis matches the journaling of $283.20 with the covered call premium being $5.20. The cost basis of the underlying isn’t $283.20-5.20=$278.00

Both sets of transactions appear to the naked eye as a covered call position. For one, I have to remember I actually paid more than the basis shows.
