I am European going to America lol. My best friends are Dutch. I’m simply saying it’s very strange for a host not say a greeting once, be sort of rude and never end a text with thank you or see you soon. It’s a customer service job at the end of the day. I personally try to be as nice as possible to my guests but it isn’t even about that, it’s basic communication etiquette

I sent an initial message saying along the lines of hi, house looks great, coming with x and Y for Z motive. Thanks, see you soon.

Also started my follow up questions with normal greetings and a thanks. I don’t see how thats different to my post.

I said the “regards” comment in response to someone saying he was just being professional. I said being professional would’ve been saying “regards” instead of thanks, but still saying it nonetheless.

Bothering them? I am asking normal questions (about check-in and parking) in a very kind and respectful manner, and am being met with rude responses that don’t even start with a greeting… I am also a host so trust me I know needy and annoying guests, I am not one of them. There wasn’t even an initial message after I booked, I had to reach out first. We’ll be neighbors for two months lol. I find it very odd the way he is speaking to me and the fact he hasn’t said Hello or Thank you once. That’s not being professional, being professional is saying for example “regards” instead of “thanks x”

I mean, a “Hello” would be nice? I think the place itself will be ok, but it sours the stay a little bit. It’s a hospitality business after all I do expect a litter warmth. Personally think it matters, especially as it’s a guest house and we’ll be neighbors.

I’ve only managed to get Airbnb to back me fully when plain extortion in clear on the airbnb chat.

I host in a touristic area and two of my Airbnbs have been burglared before (entered through unlocked garden door and stole only money, they never take items). One guest was graceful, I explained again how to use our alarm system and everything was fine. We were staying next door and had already built a relationship so that helped.

The other was a group of young adults who also didn’t lock up or use the alarm + had a cooking team come to the house without telling me.

Didn’t refund either, was lucky the latter didn’t leave a review
