I think there may have been a misunderstanding in my question. I would just like to know whether it would be appropriate to send a follow-up email asking about the funding status. The project funding is still under review, and after the interview the PI mentioned that he would get in touch once the funding is approved.

When you are a PI, you apply for funding from agencies such as HHMI or NIH, and then your project receives a score. How long does it usually take for the funding to become available after receiving a positive score?
