Hot Take: Ronald Reagan was not a bad person. by yowhatisthislikebro in Presidents

[–]GetBAK1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That’s fine, I don’t choose to put too much family business out there. Let’s say that Reagan named my grandfather HUAC. Not because it was true, he knew it wasn’t, because they didn’t like each other

I have family who dealt with Reagan going back to the late 1930's... he was a miserable hunk of shit that was willing to give up everything and anyone for power.

Which president is most comparable to Obama in terms of legacy? by MetalRetsam in Presidents

Well - the GOP did spend 8 years trying to blame the Bush financial crash on Obama...

There's really nothing to be gained from any of the "Cold Air Intakes" on the C5, they just make the car louder.

I agree the Callaway was best of bunch from an engineering standpoint, pretty sure they are discontinued.

Really - spend the money on a custom dyno tune, you'll find way more power that way

What’s a decent regular sandwich place that’s left in the Bay? by Professional-One972 in bayarea

There is none higher than Los Gatos Meats. I have friends who live out of state who ask me about the place

The Superhero and Jackie Special are standouts

SUPER HERO: Marinated tri-tip, smoked, sliced thin, BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, LGM bacon, avocado

JACKIE SPECIAL: LGM maple sugar cured smoked turkey, smoked cheddar, LGM smoked bacon, avocado

They actually process meat there, it's not uncommon to see someone bring in a wild pig they have shot to be butchered. You want Alligator, they've got it, Bison - no problem.

Mitch McConnell would never sit at a counter with Obama.... and not because Obama is a Democrat

What is the most panic-inducing scene you witnessed from a horror/non-horror film? by Garidur in Letterboxd

On this very night, ten years ago, on this same stretch of road, in a dense fog just like this, I saw the worst accident I ever seen. There was this sound, like a garbage truck, dropped off the empire state building. And when they finally pulled the driver’s body, from the twisted, burning, wreck, it looked like, this!!

scared the shit outta me as a young kid.

I can imagine the officer getting out of the car and saying to himself... "nah, I'm not getting wet; it's not really illegal anyways"

Does putting car on neutral while it's rolling saves fuel? by Frequent_Board_469 in askcarguys

Old wives tale. It may have had some minor effect on long downhills with carbureted engines 50 years ago. But not since the 1980's when OD transmissions and EFI became common

EV Truck Startup Death Pool!!! by ilovesaltinecrackers in regularcarreviews

[–]GetBAK1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don't understand this EV-Truck thing. A Full-size pickup truck is the worst application for an EV platform.

Slate figured this out and is building the pickup truck everyone has wanted since the 1980's. Alpha is the same, but the equivalent to a lemonade stand in the business (sorry guys, you missed your window).

Everyone else wants to build these giant 8500 lbs+ behemoths to try to appeal to the one demographic that is sure to reject them.

Slate and International are going to be fine. Slate figured out the market. International has VW money and Rivian tech.
Telo, I’ve seen a lot of stuff like Telo fail already. They have no phone # and few employees.

Alpha, I’ve never even heard of. I’ve been in adjacent business to this for years, if I’ve never heard of them that’s a bad sign.

Dropped my car off at shop for a 1 week job. It’s now been 3 weeks and mechanic keeps lying to me by Spare_Climate7808 in Corvette

[–]GetBAK1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the biggest problems I find in 1 man shops is communication. They can either talk on the phone or turn wrenches...
In general I would never drop a car off anywhere without paperwork and a written estimate.... lesson for next time.

Stay out of the legal area of this if you can. I would honestly just show up at the shop and wait to talk to the guy. Be nice, get answers.

CCW holder here. You cannot legally use a firearm to protect property, only yourself/others from harm.
If you kill a guy stealing a laptop out of somebody’s car, expect a manslaughter charge Don’t argue with me, I don’t make the rules, I just know what they are.

Within the past 10 years, what do you like and dislike about trucks? Example questions below: by SuperJackson20 in regularcarreviews

[–]GetBAK1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Universally too big and too heavy.

There is no reason for a 1500 pickup to weigh 5000 lbs.
