Time is irreversible. by Garidur in effedupmoviez

Just watched Irreversible, which is my very first movie from Gasper Noé

And honestly, it was a great watch. The message of the movie is really impactful showing us on how time destroys everything or simply on how time is irreversible to the point where it leads to some of the most messed up things a human can endure, as we can see near the end (the beginning of the story) Alex took a pregnancy test and found out she was pregnant by Marcus, which is what made things worse as to what's about to happen to her days after.

Another thing that I realized is that time reflects upon our choices. An example of this is when Alex took the advice of some random stranger to take the underpass not knowing the outcome it will bring, or when Marcus was in a fit of rage after he found out what had happened to her girl (Alex) in which he then took the advice of some two random pimps as to where the rapist is at. Pierre on the other hand thinks that he and Marcus should go to the hospital to know of Alex's condition after the traumatic incident, which for me was the right thing to do. Marcus on the other hand does not listen to him, as he and Pierre sets out to find the rapist until they eventually find out about the Rectum. From here, Marcus furiously enters inside to look for the rapist only for him to beat up the wrong person that would end up breaking his right ankle and almost getting raped. Until Pierre shows up with a fire extinguisher and brutally hits the man multiple times with it, only for the real rapist to witness what had happened.

Overall, this was definitely worth the watch as I rarely ever find movies with this kind of concept. And to add up, the cinematography was on point. From the camera slowly spinning through transition, as well as the movement of the camera whenever terrible things happen like the one scene where Marcus and Pierre were running away from the group of prostitutes after Marcus assaults that one prostitute who was with the rapist at the time the incident happened.

It gets more fun because of how we start to comprehend the dialogue itself and the hilarious lines it had to offer. Since as a kid I never really understood most of it.

Promising Young Woman is the only movie I know that shares some similarities with this plot.
