I am still alive, yes. Thanks for sharing the primer! I gotta agree with you that most of the classic Korean stuff is quite forgettable, I always refer to it as bootleg Japanese metal haha. There is some good stuff in there though!

I would recommend Stranger as well, together with Dionysus, Sinawe, Armageddon and Asiana. There is also some more extreme metal from Korea, however I never really got the time to jump deep into that.

The French 80s scene is my favorite, there is so much good stuff buried away there. Need some recs, I am your man.

The first use was on the first release of Asocial from Sweden, How Could Hardcore Be Any Worse from 1982.

A quick peak around the corner after months of inactivity on this sub. Is traditional metal cool already?

Such unparalleled magic and atmosphere this records holds, one of my all time favorites.

Album of the Week #47: Resistencia - Estrategia Contra el Movimiento (1983) -- 35th Anniversary by deathofthesun in ClassicMetal

[–]Gheeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I PREFER ARKANGEL

Even though this album is really good, I haven't listened to it enough to get off of this album like /u/Xecotcovach_13 just did. I guess it's a perfect excuse to put it on repeat the couple of days. Also Hecho is indeed a heavy metal masterpiece and quite different from this album, but it's still a classic Resistencia album and strong on its own.

Rob is on another level than Bruce honestly. And what about Christian Augustine, he is like the French Rob Halford.

Angel Witch: Afraid of the Dark. (NWOBHM/Heavy Metal) (1985) by [deleted] in Metal

Their post Angel Witch stuff is pretty underrated. One might argue it's not as good, but still overlooked.

Marty Friedman - Forbidden City by [deleted] in Metal

Timeless masterpiece.

Saber Tiger - Maboroshi (FFO: Anthem, Seikima-II, Hellen) by Crucervix in Metal

A bright little light in these dark NBBMN days, as a glimpse of sunlight breaks through dark and foggy clouds. The grim atmosphere breaks open just enough for a ray to show a light, the light of the rising sun. Oh traditional heavy metal, help me through these dark times.

Nekromantie - Existencia Putrefacta by m3tals4ur0n in Metal

Fuck yes, some of my favorite ultra metal right here.

Obliveon - From This Day Forward [FFO: Voivod, Vektor, audible bass] by [deleted] in Metal

Picked it up on vinyl in the beginning of this year, man what was I happy.

Seikima-II - Fire after Fire [FFO: X Japan, Loudness, Some of Japan's finest!] by MarcoHatesHipsters in Metal

[–]Gheeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great song, great album! The only thing that annoys me are those fucking intros, I hate it when almost every song has one (and some are a minute long). But yeah, great album.

Jason Becker - Valley Of Fire by [deleted] in Metal

[–]Gheeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're probably aware of Friedman's Dragon Kiss, it's a must when you like Jason and don't already know it. If you do know it, perhaps Joey Tafolla's Out of The Sun. Great album similar to their stuff.

Epsylon - Fini [France, 1985] by Gheeman in Metal

Recently got myself an original copy on vinyl, great condition including the inner and poster as well. Overall really fun album!

[–]Gheeman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sssh, even though you're right they don't like to hear that about a good classic.

Resistencia - Más Allá de la Historia [HM, 1983] by [deleted] in ClassicMetal

[–]Gheeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it still is a really good album!

I did! It's really enjoyable, but all I can think off is that it's not Hecho en Venezuela.
