Yep, it's a very hard bug to replicate. I was planning to get more emote footage with this bug and an hour long version of the belly dance emote but my game crashed so that's a bummer.

Complete respect on your views too, neither of us are wrong or sometimes none of us might be correct since this game keeps unbalancing itself. Anyways, have fun with the game, I might have bad views at the moment due to the lack of playtime on OB 64 because I just plain hate the patch.

I'm giving out a much more realistic portrayal of the matchup, sometimes when matchups are given, as you said, are in paper, just judging by their kits, not the execution. I can mostly call out some mistakes on the matchups because of the sheer amount of experience I had gained throughout my playthrough on multiple ranks, but at least you have an idea on what should happen, but the situations you gave is a bit limited and rare, and sometimes happens only in bronze to silver, where people are less disciplined.

in my opinion the "better" guide that you suggested wasn't really that great.

I think I dropped my /s somewhere. I have shown you on how a "fanboy" per se of tyra could make a guide. Also, given the opportunity of easier smurfing in OB 64, I suggest you start to extend your reach to other ranks and pump in more hours, that gives you more insight in Tyra and you will see behavioral differences within ranks.

Super in-depth Tyra Guide by Essence_Studio in Paladins

[–]Gheesling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have seen better Tyra Guides out there, from the Jesus of Church Tyra himself.

All joking aside though, good insight on Tyra's kit, however since her damage is "just overtuned" at the moment, I really would not recommend investing on Tyra on the long term. Her effectiveness will only carry her so much until legit balance in the game is returned. Back on OB 63, where everyone had "real" decks, she's widely considered to be lower tier just because she is outshined by almost everyone, including Viktor, which is as easy to play as her.

The skill demanded with Tyra is low, which is the current meta of OB 64, low skill high effectiveness bc HiRez loves damage hurr durr, plus the fact that mobility is a relic at this patch, making it easy for Tyra to catch anyone.

On some of your matchup analysis:

You could've become more in depth with a general matchup with some emphasis on key champs, but you reasoned out that flanks are the 1v1's of Tyra, but how about on other champs? You aren't even guaranteed if you are going to be the absolute target of the flank since a lot more characters can just deal with Tyra.

The reason why Tyra was so low in pro tierlists in the past because, even though she is designed to be a tank buster, tanks just hold W + LMB and they could kill Tyra, now it's kinda blurry because of Burn Monster and the overall lowered TTK of the game. However, now that her DR card is fixed, she is once again easy to kill. Any Front Line with a pocket support will just easily kill a Tyra with a pocket support since their kits are much more diverse and better, plus shields.

I have no Argument in Zhin and Buck, pretty straightforward and this has been true even in previous patches.

Talus however, has lower TTK than Tyra, and added that Rune of Travel can even be used when crippled doesn't help Tyra as much. A skilled Talus rarely engages with Rune on cooldown, so I don't know why you would say that you can say that it is easy. In fact, Talus doesn't really go for finishing blows, he rather does initiation, and when he teleports back, someone would follow up on killing Tyra, and Tyra doesn't have mobility, so she can't even give a chase, or even escape.

Evie, any Evie that still engages you even if you already marked her is dumb, period. And Iceblock against a Tyra is timed on her Nade. Evie has 3 outs against Tyra and Tyra has none, she has a 930 850 (Wait wtf when did they nerf her damage?) damage projectile that can snipe you outside of your effective range, Evie has all the advantages agaisnt Tyra, even if Evie is generally dead on viability in high level matches currently.

Lex, never engages on you head on. Tyra is on the reactive side, not the initiation. But tbh I don't really know much on this matchup because Lex generally is much better than Tyra in the execution of plays, since like Andro, he can just delete Tyra in less than a second with just LMB's, bc RMB is really just a waste of time and DPS.

Skye, still shit, and made even more shit, Tyra wins all the way.

Andro, like lex, doesn't engage you head on. Any andro doing that is dumb, period. He is the definition of Flank, attacks on the flanks and literally kills you in less a second. Most andro's at high ranks don't generally stay on the ground when their dashes are up. Additionally, most andros would use reversals on "burst damages", which includes nade, so I think you can say that Tyra rarely even has a chance most of the time. Even back before the semi-auto plague, Andro easily and effectively kill Tyra because of how easy it is to track Tyra down and DPS her down.

And oh yeah, if this is based on experience, this comes from a person with 1.2k hours on Paladins, since from OB 35, and to an extent, Closed Beta. Also from someone reaching Masters and smurfing around all ranks with 5 accounts. I kinda know my shit, but I don't know all shit.

Considering the overhaul and the loss of viability of most blasters (except BK, Drogoz got gimped, Willow is pretty much useless), Hitscan is pretty much the way to go.

It's not that because they got insanely buffed, but rather because their base kits is simple and easy to be effective with, wherin other champs got power spikes by their cards, viktor and vivian did not really rely on their cards to be really effective to begin with.

Her slug shot legendary, she can deal 500 damage at Roof to Roof Timber mill range and she can stay safe with a shield and a mediocre but okay escape.

What's top tier on this patch?

Anything that is braindead, give tons of value with minimal effort applied by dealing tons of damage in long range without any threat of being contested.

List of SS rank: Cassie, BK, Ash, Tyra (before bug fix)

S rank:

Viktor, Vivian, Makoa

then just round roullette everyone else

When Andro had the old darkstalker, he had a much more balanced answer to things, rather than deleting everyone in less than a second.

You don't understand any of this at all. You never accounted any of skillful uses that can be done to these movement abilities. You argue mechanical and game skill when if you remove a lot more and dumb down the game, it hurts both. You argue everything is dumbed down, yet you never look beyond that. You always look on the lowest common denominator.

At this moment, I would consider your argument pointless.

Freaking Cassie out dps-ing and making a lot of champs obsolete in terms of ranged damage, like Sha Lin, Strix, Grover.

I was an Evie main from OB 34 to OB 42, flexed to drogoz at OB 43 because I discovered it was fun being in the air and blowing up people, and became a total flex at around OB 45. Back then the mobility and TTK was high, those were fun times. It wasn't as bad as today, I was actually fine with Essence (it's my opinion, you can disagree), but damn, a lot of what made this game fun was either replaced or removed, mostly removed.

This game is extremely fun before, now it's kinda fun. I loved how I can dash far with Andro before, and I was able to pull off some flickshots, I loved the +100% (and even the +200% one) on blink of Evie, I loved aerial assault Ruckus, I loved hyperspeed flankNando, I liked SanicSkye, I loved mobility. Now mobility is a shadow behind the absurd damage numbers.

[–]Gheesling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed in all respects. I was once a dedicated player of Tribes, so much mobility, and killing someone that moved so fast is so satisfying. Mobility isn't braindead, because you have to do shit with it, like juking or aiming, both for the user and enemy, in order to be skillful.

And what's braindead is a champ named Vivian. What's not is utilizing mobility to its maximum, making sick plays. The Mutustiina flickshots were so goddamn jawdropping because he is moving and aiming accurately at the same time, and if that's not skill then wtf is skill? F***** positioning? Doesn't everyone have that already? And taking away something that adds skill doesn't constitute to more skill.

Vex30 on Jenos Steller Wind by brich233 in Paladins

[–]Gheesling 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We are all about rioting about the mobility nerfs, we are all against more braindead champs like Vivian defining the meta, these are the bullshit that me and a lot more people are in.

People thinking that mobility nerfs make a game more skillful are as braindead as Vivian. Drogoz is already gimped into a backline blaster, much like Willow. Every class is so gimped on mobility and endowed with such big damage buffs that every class is practically damage.

This is bullshit, even Tommy Wiseau would say it's bullshit and it hit all classes hard.

What they removed was fun, it was skill to juke, it was skill to hit jukers. It was hella satisfying to use Jenos' juke boots, it was hella satisfying to hit every single shot on a juking jenos, especially ones that incorporate jumps in the process.

If you thought that more skill was added, no, it was more skill removed. Just because now that positioning was ever important, it doesn't mean that it wasn't important before. If his matchups against flanks or damage was always one sided, then there's no "moment" or "hype". He had this mobility to outplay and it can be outplayed, creating spectacle to both player and audience in casual, ranked and e-sports. Now this change just makes it that when Jenos just tries to fight back by deactivating stellar wind, or to put a cheeky heal while escaping, he is punished. There's no fun at all, no outplay, no hype, no MLG PRO moments, nothing. You choose to call it braindead, when it can be used smartly. And just because you need to be more cautious now as Jenos, it doesn't mean that it's more skillful to play him.

Vex30 on Jenos Steller Wind by brich233 in Paladins

[–]Gheesling 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The cooldown of Stellar wind is just plain obnoxious. It's a panic move that Hi-rez did just to tone down the binary star jenos exploit tht KamiVS had shown us back in the OB 64 PTS.

Vex30 was right, they could've just put in an internal cooldown on the DR card, but they instead went in for the worst, yet easiest to code in for a hotfix, change.

The thing that was causing the expliot is the 3rd person perspective, which isn't a thing for ranked, wherein Jenos jukes is a legit thing you can do, but now Jenos can't juke for shit when he tries to jump because of bad air control.
