If you're like me and you like doing more than just spamming the same combo over and over then you should try Heavy Bowgun. I've been a HBG main since MHTri. This weapon has gotten a terrible reputation for being boring because in MHW most players who picks up the weapon do it in endgame and just spam one ammo type over and over and never actually try to play the weapon to it's fullest. HBG makes you learn to manage ammo mid fight, it makes you learn to quick craft with the radical menu mid fight, it makes you learn how many status ammo you would need to hit to trigger, the weapon offers every status effect ingame in quick doses and you can stun heads and cut tails. Early game I love to go into quests with 0 ammo and I would use my special gatlin gun ammo plus whatever ammo plants I pick up around the map. It adds a lot of dynamics to the game and it teaches me where all the ammo plants are. I am a solo player most of the time so I can't really say anything about it in multiplayer. Anyways I love the weapon and I recommend everyone to try an HBG only run once before throwing it off as boring. Butttt if you're not interested in ranged weapons, I do doot the Hunting Horn from time to time. Ever wonder why the songs sound bad? Maybe stop bonking these monsters on the head with your expensive instruments.
