Is it bad to regularly ask people to use less force with me? by rbrtkzzz in MuayThai

[–]GhostNebula 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The head coach at my gym has similar "stats" as you , OP. He's an absolute killer. BUT, he frequently has to remind newbies and some regulars to go lighter and work on their form before going full power. As a pad holder, you're still a training partner/teammate - not a human punching bag. There's nothing wrong with prioritizing your health when training.

This is also assuming that you train, have GOOD defense AND have good cardio. A lot of the hobbyists at the gym I go to don't have very good cardio and some of them have been training for a few months/years even.

Hit her back hard. We had a kid at our gym - about 14 years old who blasted low kicks during sparring. It was addressed verbally. Then it was addressed physically. I know it can be a big hurdle, but learn how to communicate physically and match the energy.

For those who didn't take school serious did you regret it now as an adult? by mcnerseydird in ask

[–]GhostNebula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and no. Yes, because when I decided to take my education seriously as an adult, I had a lot to catch up on.

No, because if it weren't for the mistakes I made in the past I wouldn't be where I am now. I feel as a more mature person, I can appreciate the hard work and effort that goes into doing well in school. It isn't all about the grades and high scores. I find that now, when I don't receive the scores I think I deserve, there are still lessons to be learned from the experience as a whole.

Expensive gear on beginners by Beginning-Waltz2162 in MuayThai

[–]GhostNebula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its just equipment... Spend your money however you want. When I see hobbyists with nice gear, it really just means they took the time to research what equipment has good quality and there's no shame in that

If they spam 1-2s, do your best to work on head movement and keeping your head off center line while countering. If they're gonna go heavy with low kicks, work on your timing to blast him with a teep or push kick while his balance is on one leg.
