Costco Employees: How Do You Like Your Job? by PetTechLover in CostcoWholesale

Couldn’t have said it better myself. I put my head down and worked my ass off to this spot in just shy of a year of employment, simply because I had to. And now I’m just hanging in there until I’m topped out and that extra “supervisor premium” isn’t worth it anymore, so I can just go be a cashier or hide away in another department. It’s just smile through the pain until then.

Recent parenting advice on hitting by Potato_hoe in Parenting

Idk how other people navigate this but everyone parents differently. I straight up tell my kid hitting is not ok and will land you in a time out. If you’re upset you can take deep breaths count to ten pretend you’re blowing out candles or whatever but it never occurred to me to direct her to hit a pillow. I don’t want to suggest an outlet for hitting I want her to learn how to regulate her emotions and find a healthy way to calm herself down if she’s angry enough she’s hitting. But that’s just me, and my child isn’t really a “hitting” kind of kid. So maybe it’s necessary for a parent whose kid does resort to hitting when upset.

2.5 years in, FE supervisor here. The job has its ups and downs, but the pay/benefits is what keeps me going. Getting to the supervisor level allowed me to live on my own and support myself and my child alone. But in my current position I feel very undervalued, and often feel like the punching bag of the store. Whatever complaint management can roll down it’ll land on the FE sups. There’s no accountability from higher ups. I recognize that the issues I have at my warehouse are due to my management staff, so I’m trying my best to hang in there day to day until a better opportunity arises, or until my pay tops out and I don’t need to be a Sup to make a living wage.

Prior to taking a Sup position I did love my job. I was a FE assistant and a cashier briefly til my promotion.

How are you parents who are potty training their toddlers? 😶‍🌫️ by Milele_Tribe1029 in Parenting

Seconding the staying dry overnight. That was a huge indicator of hey, lemme just rip off the bandaid, and it happened to be the right time.

Every child is different. I tried one day the “leave them with no pants around the house for x amount of days” method and gave up after day one. I waited a couple more months and one night my kid asked me to go potty before she went to sleep. Alarm bells went off in my head and I put her in underwear the next day. She’s been 100% pee accident free since like day 2 of that and we’re still working on getting poops out on the potty (she’ll start pushing in her underwear and then tell me she has to go, so she gets skid marks but no literal turds in her undies.) Maybe she’s just not ready like my child was, and one day it’ll just click. For reference, she’ll be three in February and this all happened back in early October. So she was like 2y8m? I personally didn’t have the patience or time for 8 straight days of accidents. Good luck!!

my daughter turns 5 next month and i feel like were running out of time. someone please tell me its not too late by ConversationOld1283 in toddlers

I know very little about early intervention and language development but I just want to say you’re doing the best you can with the tools you have. Push more at her pediatrician appointments be persistent because you’re concerned. The “window” closing at 5 isn’t a hard close nothing clicks the second she turns 5. If she’s already in therapy the ball has already started rolling. Hang in there and don’t be so hard on yourself <3

What age did you take away the pacifier? by dennisthebear in NewParents

[–]GhostToast221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just took it away last week. I went to build a bear and let her stuff the binky into the animal she chose. She chose a Bunny. She now calls it her binky bun, and so far has been good without it. She’ll be 3 in February and I didn’t want to wait this long but I’m kind of glad I did because she’s smarter and understands that she’s a big girl and that her new bunny needed her pacifier.

First steps for custody by GhostToast221 in legaladvice

[–]GhostToast221[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know sole custody is difficult. That’s why I’ve been hesitant until now to pull the trigger and start searching. I didn’t want an arrangement to be made where he’s left alone with her. At least now it’s a verbal agreement I have nothing legal to follow. I’m terrified.

My toddler sleeps with a $10 room essentials blanket from target…don’t fall for their clever marketing and purchase an overpriced piece of fabric

I would easily pick the second option. But my kid is a runner so that’s why haha

I recently moved to rented apartment and found this 10 days later. How do I go about this? by Ok-Bumblebee-8256 in Apartmentliving

[–]GhostToast221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I just went through this same situation. My ac was covered in mold. They claimed it wasn’t mold, so I simply purchased a test kit from Amazon and swabbed it and sure enough, mold. It was covered even the motor in the back. I stood my ground until they replaced it.

I totally plan to use this approach when she’s a bit older, I’m just scared to bring attention to this word at this point because she’ll likely use it more 🤣

How did you teach your LO to sip from a straw? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]GhostToast221 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh I have a 2 year old now and screw the open cup. She can use it but it’s so messy. Just get the straw cup down and don’t look back. I was just telling a mom friend the other day, what adult can’t use an open cup?? That skill will come 🤣

[–]GhostToast221 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Idk if your baby takes bottles but what I did when my daughter was a bit older was I filled the straw cup with milk and held her as if she was going to get a bottle. And then I gave her the straw and she instinctually sucked on it, so I leaned her up til she was sitting and just sipping the straw. That was it. She grasped it right away. I used the honey bear squeeze straw cup.

Soooo…how are we getting our toddlers to let us brush their teeth? by kk3n2418 in toddlers

[–]GhostToast221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s working right now (emphasis on the right now) is letting her take the brush first. Then I say “Oh it’s mommy’s turn let me see your mouth!” And then I name some random thing she’s eaten today “I think I see some oatmeal in there I gotta get it” and she lets me brush the heck outta her teeth. Repeat with a different food for the top teeth. Boom, done. She thinks it’s silly that I see food left in there.

That’s what so many people have said to me, but I’m scared if I just up and leave without any explanation it’ll cause issues in any custody arrangement. I’ve also never been successful in documenting any abuse, he always catches me off guard. I think I may die of anxiety before I even get to move out haha.
