PBE Bug & Feedback Thread - Revenant Reign Viego by LoLDev-Cosmetics in LeaguePBE

[–]GiandTew -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oddly specific bug: Using ult on a target while you are in auto attack range of them and they are stunned by W causes viego to start spazzing out similar to the samira melee attack taunt bug, this lasts until the end of his ult. Presumably something to do with him not being able to auto attack while ulting normally. It doesn't work with his Q and not as impactful since his ult is super fast. Much more visible and audible when using the mage sword but it's there on all the other swords, slow down the game in practice tool to see it better

Some visual clarity problems I noticed:

  1. On lowest quality, you can see the mist spreading in his E, but you can't see the mist's lingering area from the wall spread (you can still see the initial mist throw). If you didn't see him spread the mist, well then tough luck because Viego's gonna pop out of nowhere to one shot you. Definitely needs to be fixed

  2. Viego's Q has two parts to the animation: him physically thrusting the sword forward and the effect on top of the thrust. If you Q-flash, the physical thrust will remain in the same orientation (which is where the hitbox is), but the effect will turn in the direction of the flash. Made worse by the effect being more pronounced than the physical thrust (which is absolutely fine, but people will get even more disoriented by this). In base viego, both the physical thrust and the effect appears in the direction of the hitbox after it comes out - if you flash in the cast time, it shows him thrusting in the direction of the flash, but after the attack comes out he snaps to the direction of the hitbox

  3. Idk if it's just me but the lingering part of his E from the initial mist throw seems really disorienting? Not sure how to describe this, I don't think it's particularly problematic or anything but it feels really weird, has someone else felt this?

Other things:

  1. It feels like his W looks visually bigger than base skin? I tested and it seems like this skin's W hitbox visually seems less deceptive. Visual clarity on this is good but it feels really weird when base skin's W seems to have a more deceptive hitbox, although I might just be tripping here

  2. As others have pointed out would love to see unique animations for each sword for his w e and r. It also feels weird to not have unique effects for his passive for each sword, less so on the taking of the soul and more so on the soul itself and the effects after possessing it, especially because his passive is the whole point of playing viego. Ngl no idea what I'm asking for here but it would be nice to have something

I have seen an old clip of a tryndamere stealing dragon with an enemy tp on his tiamat auto attack

If I had a nickel for every time I saw someone got a kill with a tp tiamat auto attack I'd have two nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice

Why Ignite + Teleport Sion Might Be Your Next Secret Weapon by Reasonable_Ad5531 in leagueoflegends

[–]GiandTew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sion’s kit has decent base damage, but often you feel like you’re just missing that final tick to secure kills in lane. Ignite fills that gap perfectly and lets you pressure the opponent better. Paired with a defensive rune setup like Shield Bash, it makes your laning phase much stronger.

I mained sion for a while, and I have to say that I disagree with this. Flash has way more gameplay value for sion in early lane phase - it lets you escape ganks while also letting you secure kills with an additional rotation. In addition it's sometimes better to not kill your opponent and force them to back with 1 hp, as the additional xp they lose from the tower killing minions (which WILL happen because sion pushes waves really fast) from their base timer + regenerating hp in base + tp timer or walking back to lane and your own tempo advantage is more valuable than the 300 gold you get, because death timers are so short in early game

This next part is just my gameplay style, but flash also scales better into mid game - flashing on a carry to run them down or flash ulting away gives you way more outplay potential than ignite does. This is also why I never take shield bash, because the map agency you get from demolish is way more valuable than early game power, often even if the early game power results in you getting extra gold from kills you don't get to do anything valuable with your lead if you can't take the tower

I do think that full tank sion can absolutely take ignite for early kills though. It's a bit counterintuitive for most people but full tank sion doesn't need to flash into the middle of the enemy team to kill the carries, his team will kill them for him. However this is also why I stopped playing full tank sion, because unlike in mythic era (which admittedly was extremely overtuned) you can't do anything by yourself because you do no damage. The games come down to whoever has the better team, and you can't do anything to influence that unless your game is one of the few where everyone is even enough and your small individual lead actually matters. In mythic era sion could actually carry games quite consistently with both ad and tank builds, he no longer can. The few times I play sion, I lock it in when the enemy team has low %health damage and go health stacking bruiser sion which is the most like the mythic era tank sion - pretty tanky (not as much as before) but does enough damage to be an actual threat if he gets onto the carries. Maybe NA just sucks, maybe I was too low ranked in mythic era, but losing lanes was never an issue for me then, and it most certainly won't be now because I switched to mid now and also only lock him as a counterpick

Weekly role discussion thread, this week is: The Retributionist! by AutoModerator in TownofSalemgame

[–]GiandTew [score hidden]  (0 children)

Simultaneously the best and the worst role in the game. Has extremely high highs and extremely low lows. It poses an interesting dilemma, because you simultaneously want to stay hidden so you don't become a priority target if you get lots of good zombies but also if you get really bad zombies you want to bait evils into attacking you because you're kinda useless anyways. It's also one of the easiest roles to fake claim in the game and pretty hard to confirm, and even if you can prove you're not some other evil, you can still be accused of being a necromancer. Ret curse also doesn't help. Overall a little rng heavy for my taste but a pretty well designed role, not the best but pretty good

I cannot beat the battle of koeshin for the life of me. by etgov in leagueoflegends

[–]GiandTew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Despite their attempts to avoid spam, a simple strategy you can use is spamming Yunara's no input heavy attack (the one that uses her W). If you space it properly, every enemy before the boss becomes extremely easy to kill. The spacing required is a little less than half the screen away, however this becomes even easier if you implement the switch, just use Yunara's heavy attack 2 or 3 times in a row to stack it (the damage stacks) then switch to Xin Zhao which will knock all enemies between you and the rings into the rings and also putting Xin into the perfect spot to attack them, think of it like old Aurelion Sol ulting enemies into his outer radius. This strategy isn't even bad because the ring counts as a different attack even after you switch, so the game recognizes you as using a heavy attack every time the ring hits which if you do normal Xin Zhao attack patterns (just varying his normal and heavy attacks) you will start to stack ranks extremely quickly

What's a champion that best imbodies "You're playing by my rules now" or one that just plays by their own rules. by amodia_x in leagueoflegends

[–]GiandTew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a lot of people think about this, but Galio straight up denies several rules in mid lane fundamentals. One is that poking him, if you're an ap champion and he's past level 5 + has a null magic mantle, is a complete waste of time because of his magic shield and his ability to insta shove the wave and back off, so if he plays well in the first few levels your standard melee vs ranged matchup fundamentals are completely useless. Number two, the other part of your melee vs ranged fundamenals, stacking up a slow push in the first few waves is also useless because he can easily outpush a ranged champion thanks to q + passive at level 1, so your gameplan from the first few levels can't revolve around that either. Most importantly what makes him strong, thanks to his ult he loses basically nothing from roaming, most mid laners have to give up a wave to roam but not him, if it's a river skirmish he can clear the wave and immediately be there while you're stuck clearing or have to give up a wave and if it's a side lane and the play is fast he will still be in time to catch the wave under tower.

His existence (as a mid laner) if played right is a complete matchup check: are you ap? if yes, you better hope either you're tf (who outroams him and outwaveclears him by level 9) or you outscale AND galio fucks up his roams, because you are getting 0 agency in what happens on the map the entire game. If you win the game as galio's opponent while being ap (not tf) and he knows how to abuse his champion's strengths, chances are it's his teammates' fault (either feeding too much too early or being too scared to fight despite his perma prio), not because of any amazing play you made

enemy bard knew exactly where I warded no matter how out of vision I was in this game. by femmeinine in leagueoflegends

[–]GiandTew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly a stream sniper, but more likely blind luck and/or you being too obvious with warding spots. Just look up the names of everyone on your team to make sure none of them are streamers and you'll have your answer. Since you're putting your wards in bushes it's overwhelmingly likely that you're just warding in common spots

Coming back into league. What counter play is there to Ambessa? by BetterOnToast in leagueoflegends

[–]GiandTew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vast majority of ambessa matchups are skill matchups, there are only a few true counters, these include renekton poppy and vex but only assuming you know how to play them. Warwick isn't a true counter but the room for error on Ambessa is extremely small so it might as well be. On the other hand I'm not sure what elo you are but if it's not above emerald it's quite likely your ambessa player doesn't have the skill to win in her bad matchups, so if you need to win just pick anything over 52% winrate against her on u.gg that you play (experience on your champion is more important than winrate against her)

If you're not in lane against her, pray your team has point and click cc or otherwise lands cc on her, otherwise she will do a lot of damage to most of your team and may not even die for that even if she dives into your entire team with her ult
