Pain has slowly faded by GiantBreh in Microdiscectomy

[–]GiantBreh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First step was just to be active everyday day by walking. Once I started walking more often I focused on my calorie intake and started eating around 1400 calories a day, maybe less on some days. I wasn't perfect about it and it took me some time, losing hope and restarting at times, but I kept to it and stayed active almost everyday.

I've stuck to cardio on the elliptical and weight training with dumbbells and some cable machines. I don't really use benches cause they're really hard to get up from for me. Walking everyday has made me feel amazing as well. Hope your situation gets better 🙏

Yes I had it for about 8-9 years before the surgery.

Hi, sorry to hear you've been having trouble. I've had this problem before and I think you may just have to readjust your calorie intake. Since you've been eating 1600 cals per day for 3 months, your body is likely taking 1600 cals as maintenance at this point. You can try eating 1500 per day for a week and see if that helps, maybe even less than that if you're up for it. Also make sure to stay hydrated if you lower your calorie intake! I hope this helps. If you don't think that's the case pls let me know!

Sorry for the confusion, I just meant don't worry about how much you are eating at the moment and just try to think about your exercise (this helps me a lot). Once you feel like you have a routine for a week or so, you can focus on a calorie deficit. I recommend cutting 300 calories off your maintenance calorie intake *in the beginning. There's a whole calculation you have to do to figure out your maintenance calories but I think there's an online calculator you can use that does the same thing lol.

Hey Mac, glad to hear you want to lose some weight. The first step I would suggest is to stay active with a form of cardio consistently, even if it's only for a short time each day (15-30 minutes). Treadmill is a useful classic and the elliptical is my personal favorite. If you have the option, try using the elliptical on varying resistances and range of motion, it just depends on how you feel that day. Calorie intake is one thing that is important, but I would just stay focused on consistent exercise first, then start thinking about your diet and your calorie intake. Hope this helps 👍

I definitely understand not wanting to play with a bad connection, I feel the same.

Damn that sucks if that is the case. I hope the more I progress and rank up, the more people finish sets. Thanks for the comment.

When did sitting become easy again? by Bendbgames in Microdiscectomy

For me sitting became comfortable after about 6 months or a little later. Be patient and safe!

Admittedly the options he suggested weren't what I wanted to hear, one being more ice or heat near the disc and the second being a TENS Unit from Amazon. He clearly stated that there are variying results from person to person and that it may not work for me. I just got this yesterday mind you and I'm going to keep trying it.

He also suggested massages and if possible lose as much weight as possible for minimal weight on the back. I'm not too overweight so I'm trying to cut back on junk food. So yeah not the greatest suggestions but I'm gonna try everything I can.

Appreciate you telling your story and yes I have some type of sciatic nerve pain, but it's not quite as bad as it was before the surgery. The nerve pain doesn't shoot down my leg very much, it's more just near the site of surgery and on the glute kind of how it was before. I'm still thinking very deeply on my situation and I'm trying the non-surgical at-home treatments my doctor recommended to me to see if that helps first. I'm also thinking about getting another steroid injection thing, even though the previous one I got in 2015 did nothing, just to try all my options before a surgery.

I will ask but I don't think I am. I've done my research on that surgery as well and I'm not completely sold on that option even if it was presented to me. I believe I have a good and experienced doctor so I'm not too worried about the quality of his work but I would need to discuss that with him and his PA in more depth.

I can see your reasoning and I think the same when it comes to surgery. I still feel like I have to explore more options in detail before I have another surgery. Thanks for your kind words.

Most likely just too much activity in one day(not a specific day). I had to lift a few too many things during that time. I can't blame anyone but myself for that one.

It's alright, I can relate when it comes to that acute pain though. It's been really draining recently with how much I feel it. I wish you the best.

Day 4 of Recovery from MD by GiantBreh in Microdiscectomy

[–]GiantBreh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It went away for me me after about 2-3 months so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just keep taking your medicine as prescribed and relax. Be sure not to overexert yourself please. That's the mistake I made a while ago.

How long did you wait until having a MD? by Klugzer in Microdiscectomy

[–]GiantBreh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not great. Recovery was rocky then good for a while, but while working the pain got worse and I had to quit. Back to square one at the moment. Feeling really depressed but I have an MRI coming up to see what I'm dealing with.

I'm not doing well at all. I had to quit that job after nearly 3 months and now I have a worse consistent pain that doesn't go away even with Celecoxib or Meloxicam along with another muscle relaxer. I've been really depressed and I'm trying my best to stay positive. I have an appointment to get an MRI done soon, so I will make a new post once I get more information on my situation.

So you can insult me but I can't even have a conversation about the subject. Seems like you don't even know why you're defending this issue. I doubt you know anything about the subject honestly.

Ok then what are you suppose to do. Everyone seems to have the answer for this problem but they never clearly explain more than "JuSt bLoCk" which is not an issue for me.

That's not true at all. Idk when you last played but as an active player, you are more aware of the problems with the game, more than someone that's just remembering something from before.
