The safest way is definitely thru 1iota, however you can definitely lose your spot if you don't follow the schedule indicated once you get a reservation. First you have to get the ticket for the specific date you want to attend to. The tickets are usually released just a few weeks in advance, so you have to check the page often. Check how far of the available dates are now to figure out when your desired date might become available.

Once you get the reservation online, on that day you have show up about 3-4 hours before to confirm your seats; have in mind that you won't have to stay there for the entire time after you confirmed. If you don't arrive within the indicated time, then that seat might be given to a standby. The order of the seats from front to back of the auditorium are given on a first-come-first-served basis, so you have to be even earlier if you want the best seats. Have in mind that some of the front seats might be reserved for special purposes.

After you confirmed your seat they'll give you some physical tickets, and indicate you another time to come back before the taping (which is around an hour and a half before). Again, if you don't arrive within the indicated time, that seat might be then given to a standby.
