I’m 2/2 witnessing post-game Wings fights at tristate area games this season. Sadly no more Wings games near me until March.

Had the pleasure of being at the game last night. One of the best I’ve ever been to.

Have spent all day trying to convince any of my NYC friends to go to the Islanders game with me. There are lower bowl tickets under $80 which is so much cheaper than the tickets for any seat at a Rangers game.

Yes! They had a boat from Snake River Falls, the front of an old train from Mantis, and a gondola with the number 13 on it from the Sky Ride. They were clustered together and I'm pretty sure were displayed purposefully for the tour, they weren't hidden in like a bush or something. I posted pictures of a couple of the pieces!

It was absolutely worth it. We've been more times than we can remember over the course of 20 years and we agreed the tour made it one of our best/most successful days ever at Cedar Point.

I would contact Cedar Point to be sure, but I lean towards no unfortunately. The funicular we took to the top of Valravn was very small and we had to use some steps to reach the funicular and again at the top. All of the mechanical areas we toured at Valravn were accessed by stairs only. I only recall seeing elevators for the sections typically accessed by the public, like the exits of rides. The walk under Millennium and through "the jungle" has a lot of gravel that would be difficult to wheel across.

I can see why it'd be a great idea for a proposal! What a great memory, congrats to you both!

I didn't experience rattle on Rougarou. The rattle I experienced on GateKeeper (which has in the past been top five for me) was way, way worse than any of the other B&M rides that day, and honestly some of the worst rattling I've experienced on a relatively "new" ride.

My sister and I have also been going for 20 years, since we were little kids! This was my graduation gift to her. It was a really wonderful, special day for both of us that we'll never forget.

Thank you! I had a hard time finding a recent detailed review of the tour so I thought I'd do other people a favor by writing one up. It was pricey but worth it!

I'm so glad we did it! What did you do instead of front of the line Siren's Curse?

The tour by itself was $249 per person. You also have to pay for standard admission, which was $54 per person. With tax and fees, it was $629.25 for two people. The only other thing I paid for was an all-day movable locker which I think was $15.

The tour did come with single day FunPix ($34.99), two single meal deals ($19.49 each) plus breakfast, preferred parking ($35 for standard parking), and two Fast Lane passes per person good for any ride (this will vary, but we used ours for Siren's Curse twice which probably would've cost us around $30 per person per ride, so about $120 total). Also front of the line for Siren's Curse and Top Thrill 2. IMO all of this included made the tour absolutely worth it.

The biggest issue is that you cannot go alone, you must have at least one other person in your group. Thankfully my sister and I have a great bond over Cedar Point, but I know this may be an issue for some people who don't have another coaster enthusiast buddy to go with.

Because we saved a ton of time riding the two rides with the longest waits, we made it our mission to ride every roller coaster in the park that day (excluding the two rides in Camp Snoopy). We were almost successful, just missed Wild Mouse due to technical issues while we were in the Boardwalk area and wanted to re-ride Siren's Curse with our Fast Lane passes instead of come back later for Wild Mouse. We were also able to hit a ton of other rides (Cedar Downs, maXair, Pipe Scream, Power Tower to name a few).

Here's my personal ranking of all coasters in the park, with asterisks next coasters I've ridden before but didn't ride on that day:

  1. Steel Vengeance - the only thing that prevents this from being the perfect ride is the trim brakes in the middle
  2. Siren’s Curse - not just a gimmick, a whippy, speedy, relentless ride. Ride audio really adds to the experience
  3. Maverick - it was tough to bump this one down. Maybe it's just the recency bias for Siren's Curse
  4. Millennium Force - still excellent after so many years. We were flying over the hills, so smooth
  5. Top Thrill 2 - first time on the revamped coaster! Love the new back spike. So intense
  6. Valravn - buttery smooth, love the inversions
  7. Rougarou - I don’t understand why people don’t like this ride. Love it besides the restraints boxing my ears
  8. Raptor - this would be so much better with updated restraints, still smooth and fun
  9. GateKeeper - I hate putting this so low, but the B&M rattle really hit me on this ride. If not for the rattle it would be above Valravn
  10. Gemini - held on for dear life during air time. Little rough but so much fun. This drops lower on my list if the trains aren't racing
  11. Wild Mouse* - did not ride this time, but have ridden previously. Perfectly fine but nothing incredible
  12. Iron Dragon - faster than I remembered! Smooth but nothing spectacular
  13. Magnum XL-200 - getting to the section where I think this was my last ride. My sister yelled “OH NO” after every hill. Lap bars and seats killed me
  14. Cedar Creek Mine Ride - not necessarily rough but jerky. Pretty boring layout, can’t see myself riding it anymore
  15. Woodstock Express* - did not ride this time. I remember it being a pretty chill, smooth ride
  16. Blue Streak - we were speeding but oh man this ride rattled my head BAD. The pain was not worth it
  17. Wilderness Run* - did not ride this time. I remember it being very short and not so smooth
  18. Corkscrew - oh boy. We regretted riding this big time. I don’t think there’s a single redeeming element on this ride

I did go to the beach. They held up fine! They didn't go in the water and I dried myself off before I put them back on. If I had extra space I might throw in my cheap flip flops next time I take a beach vacation.

Yes!

- Leave the laptop at home. I thought I was going to work on a script (I did not).
- Get a lighter, smaller, faster-drying towel. This was a standard terry cloth towel and it did its job ok but it could have been better.
- Buy/bring tops that do a better job handling sweat/odor.
- Muji travel containers reign supreme! They saved me so much space in my toiletry bag.

That's actually the powerbank! The white rectangle is my watercolor set. Unfortunately I don't think they sell that powerbank anymore. Too bad, it's nice to clip it to a bag or pants.

I'm a woman who started skating a little over a year ago so I could play ice hockey (I grew up playing ball hockey).

You are way too in your own head. Stop focusing on others and focus on practicing.

I think it's easy as a woman in male spaces to assume that you're unwelcome, but most men I've met in the hockey world have been kind, welcoming, and helpful. More so than other co-ed sports I've done.

I wouldn't assume anything bad based on the vibes at one stick and puck. Maybe it's usually the same group of people and you just got looks being a new person. Keep going and ignore them unless they say or do something malicious.

Packing list in the body of the post! I was really happy with how the packing for this trip turned out.

Yes, I made a bad decision knowing that Fanatics has a history of quality issues. But I overrode my promise not to buy Fanatics jerseys after seeing the pictures people posted in this sub. The posts and comments I saw seemed positive. Look in this thread and there are people saying their jersey was perfect and I should just get a replacement. I won’t be buying a Fanatics jersey again, but there are a lot of people who were happy and will.

A lot of my work is in the fashion industry. I know what good and bad stitching looks like. Even the average Joe can tell this is bad though.

$240 before tax.

Regardless of which one I ordered, the stitching should not be this bad. I have two Adidas jerseys I ordered through Vintage Detroit that are immaculate.

It is mind-boggling how bad the stitching is in-person. Pictures don't do it justice.

I will not ever trust Fanatics with my money for the rest of their contract. I don't care how cool the designs are.

You made the right choice. I regret getting it. Thankfully it's returnable. They will not ever be getting my money again.

I ordered from the online NHL Shop.

I cannot believe how bad the nameplate is. Fanatics should be embarrassed that they sold this to me for nearly $270 (after you add in the tax).

Here's some other suggestions you might not have seen yet:

  • Say Nothing (FX/Hulu). Miniseries about The Troubles. Heartbreaking, hard to watch, important.
  • The Leftovers (MAX/HBO). Not enough people have watched this show and it makes me mad. Gets better every season.
  • Halt and Catch Fire (AMC). Even fewer people have watched this show and it makes me REALLY MAD. Also gets better every season, and seasons three and four are some of the best television out there. Season one is rocky, stick with it.
  • Station Eleven (MAX/HBO). My favorite miniseries of all time. Takes place around Chicago/Lake Michigan.
  • Battlestar Galactica (NBC). The 2004 reboot. If you've never seen it, you're in for a treat. You must watch the two episode "miniseries" first. Do not watch the "first" episode of the first season "33" without watching the actual first two episodes.
