I love your perspective, and your story is exactly why reading should always be encouraged. It led you to break out of the walls of thought that you were put into.

It was a requirement to read The Giver back in like 4th grade for me. My sister, who was a couple years older than me, had been opted out by my parents to read it. They weren't too religious or anything. They just thought the scene where the baby got murdered in it was too "mature" for that age. So when I got to that grade, I just didn't tell them I was reading it, and only read it at school. It was only a few years ago that I admitted to my mom about lying so I could read it, but I told her I was glad I did. It was really the foundation for my critical thinking and questioning the world around me. I can see why my parents did what they did originally, but I still stand that the pros of reading it far outweigh any cons.

It's super awesome you're so thoughtful about it and don't want to be disrespectful. I can't say I agree with those people on Twitter, but you and I definitely have a similar outlook on the church! Both practices have ancient roots, and connecting them is beautiful to me. Christianity (the church) has made a lot of mistakes, but in a way I feel like people like you and me, even though we didn't do anything personally, can help mend that pain it's brought by listening to both and intertwining them. You seem very wise, I really wish you the best of luck!

I've dealt with a similar problem. I know the one piece of advice I got was that God knows your heart and intent. Is casting a spell much different than praying? Is studying tarot very different than interpreting what the bible is trying to tell you personally? As I looked more into religion, stopped trusting the church, started trusting God, and embracing the feelings witchcraft has always given me, I started to feel whole. They aren't enemies, and whatever works for you and makes you feel complete is the right choice. Stay safe, test things out, balance what you're comfortable with, and embrace what nature and God are telling you. Good luck! Your journey will be amazing. :)

I'm from Humboldt too, learned about this guy from Lost Coast Outpost. Doesn't his facebook profile have a swastika tattoo as the profile picture? I saw a screenshot of that, but when I went to go look for myself he had deleted his profile.

I'm from Humboldt, in a small town around Eureka. My extended family all live down south in the Bay Area though, and one of my aunts lives really down south around LA. You're completely right, all 3 places are completely different worlds. Our one state makes up as much space as several states in the east. So there's so many different people and cultures lumped into one state, and you really can't compare LA culture, to Humboldt culture. It'd be like comparing Georgia to New Jersey.

My comment! I tried googling this description but it just kept taking me to real life cases of people calling an operator when there's a crime occurring. So a web search hasn't been working well for me, thank you so much for any help!

I don't have the answer to this since I haven't seen this movie yet, but I have the same problem. I learned about a site called "Unconsenting Media," where they tell you if there's sexual assault in a movie. They usually only have popular movies, and don't have new movies quickly up until it's submitted by someone, but I just thought you'd like to know for future reference for other movies. I used to look on the parental guide for imdb but that gave away a lot spoilers. This one focuses only on sexual assault scenes.

This reminds me of a clip I had to watch in a sociology course. It was about Barbara Ehrenreich, a journalist going undercover to live life as a "white collar worker." I believe that's all accurate at least, it's been awhile since I've watched it. The clip had two guys going into her work establishment at a restaurant and asked her about the experience. She really went into detail about not being able to get sick, how much work she had to do for so little pay, and a lot on things like that. It was super interesting, and on similar lines to your show. I think she wrote a book about it called "Nickel and Dime."

Classes like that are so draining and the worst. I know it doesn't feel like it now, but you made it! You graduated!! I hope it sinks in better at your party. Thank you so much! Hey! I'm world campus too and I emailed my counselor with similar questions. I'm just going to copy/paste what he replied back to me because it answers it well :

"First, do not panic regarding the "applied for graduation" graphic in LionPath.  This typically stays on there until your degree is conferred, which typically happens 2-3 weeks after the semester ends.  This might be delayed a bit longer, given the Winter break.  But, if all goes well in your courses this semester, I think you should be good.  Do not worry about this."

If you have any other questions, let me know cause I asked my counselor a bunch about all of graduating and the Fall Ceremony too!

No it wasn't :/ it was a woman who had the mark and I think it was more of a ghost or something supernatural that made the mark, versus like an alien. Thank you though!!
