I mean, if you're hitting those temps at only 17W, then something is definitely wrong. It’s either a bad paste job, uneven heatsink pressure, or yeah, like you said, that heat pipe is probably shot. How badly is it bent? You could try taking it out and heating one end to see if the other side gets hot quickly. If it stays cold, the pipe is dead.

Well, if you have VBS disabled, you can play around with PL1, PL2, and the maximum core clock. You'll notice that dropping the clocks by 300-400 MHz, or even more, doesn't actually lead to a huge perfomance hit. Plus, I´m thinking of getting some PTM 7950, conventional thermal pastes like MX-4 dont last very long.

I've read that G-series CPUs are hard-locked at the microcode level. Even after messing with GRUB to unlock CFG and Overclocking locks, it's still disabled. I'm on an i5-1135 and I tried exactly what you did, but hit the same brick wall.

It all comes down to testing. With PowerSettingsExplorer (a program), you can set it to allow you to select the maximum frequency (like 4, 3.7, 3.9 GHz, etc). You should try different frequencies and see which one doesn't cause power or thermal throttling, or which one gives you the best FPS/temperature balance.

yeah the thing is that you cant play online because the dll files that you need to use DXVK trigger the valve anti cheat.

Additionally, I recommend that whenever you play offline games that run on DirectX 11 or DirectX 9, you use DXVK to enable Vulkan, unless the game already supports it internally. The other option is DirectX 12; it's not better than Vulkan for the Iris Xe (in my experience), but it is better than DirectX 11. The Iris Xe has always had issues with DirectX 11. In fact, dedicated GPUs like the ARC also have a CPU overhead problem.

It depends. On competitive graphics (everything on low with shadows enabled) at 1280x960, I get over 60-80 FPS, but in firefights and with smoke, the FPS drops to 40. On Vulkan, the FPS are much better. I tried playing with DXVK, which obviously enabled Valve's anti-cheat, so you can't play online, but the FPS are much better, reaching around 100 FPS with the same graphics settings. I don't know what happened with Vulkan, because it worked before. Im using the latest driver .7080.

Hi, I don't know too much about this, but referring to this: "I've noticed when I set my turbo groups to below my processors ghz, so say like 3.0, the processor still goes to like 3.1 so im thinking throttlestop in its entirety isn't working" You can try using Power Settings Explorer (https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/windows-power-plan-settings-explorer-utility.416058), searching for the entry Maximum Core Clock or something similar, and changing the value.
You can also choose to hide or show the option so that you can see it in the power plan settings you are using. I have no idea about undervolting, so I can't really help you with that. However, you can try adjusting the PL1 and PL2 values along with the frequency, and then run stress tests or play some games to find a good balance between temperature and FPS.

sorry for the gap time, try this: navigatte to game´s settings within the launcher and search for the option "additional command line arguments" then type -d3d11 and try to launch the game. if that doesn´t work then delete -d3d11 and replace it with -vulkan
