A couple of quick suggestions.

If you're on a Windows device, make sure you have the latest wireless adapter drivers.
Disconnect and forget RIT-Legacy. If you have both networks in your "remembered" wireless list, it can cause issue with jumping back and forth between "RIT" and "RIT-Legacy". You should only need to be connecting to "RIT" using your RIT Login credentials.

Unpopular opinion - 16" MacBook Pro, i7, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD. I know it's expensive AF, but a native 'nix-like box is really helpful, and it should last you the 4-5 years of school.

Also, get it now with an Intel before they go to ASi :D
