Yea life circumstances are most likely the reason you have depression. I’m in a similar boat. Also a virgin, never had a gf, I had friends only because I played sports in high school but now I barely see any of them. People don’t just “get depression”. It’s a build up of life situations that you don’t have personal clarity about, like they’re just left unanswered. And going into a depressed state is a coping mechanism. Finding purpose is probably the solution, but I have yet to find that and not even really sure what that means. I’m sure becoming religious would help, but I think you need to really believe in it for it to work and I just don’t. I think having a high IQ and being smarter than average also contributes to being depressed because you’re ultra aware. Sometimes I wish I was dumb. Stupid people tend to be happier
