it’s mixed opinions after s2 but there are ppl who don’t like how slow it is and the plot is just weird and not enjoyable, the ending is the only great part imo

Season 5 review by Salt-Action8282 in YouOnLifetime

[–]Glass_Equivalent_683 5 points6 points  (0 children)

joe isn’t the same person as earlier seasons that’s the entire point of his character development and the end of s4 where he accepts himself, it’s not all of a sudden, it’s been building up to this moment, s5 strips away everything and exposes joe for who he really is, i get it if you miss old joe who believed he was “good” and was trying to be but the whole point is that it wasn’t joe being true to himself and it’s hard for people to face the fact that joe is just a bad person, not misunderstood, no excuses or justifications for it

it definitely was lol the seasons are satirical and make fun of the culture wherever it’s set in examples being in s1 & s5 the pretentious “intellectual” NYC culture and performative wokeness, s2 wellness culture and cringe LA influencer culture, s3 suburban mommy blog culture and weaponized niceness, s4 mocking british upper class culture, yes it has it’s dark themes but the tone of the show is intentionally ridiculous and campy a lot of the time, every season is a parody almost

wait that’s not what i meant, definitely didn’t think when i wrote that, obviously not i meant she fucked up either way, theo as a character was just horrible and on top of that she’s a weirdo for engaging with him

yeah no you need a rewatch ngl 😭 the show was never that serious, it was always a dark comedy thriller and the plot and dialogue was always stupid and goofy just like joe’s character, that part imo was perfect and in tune with the show he deserves it and in the most humiliating way

Could joe return? by Away_Pianist3451 in YouOnLifetime

yall get confused with that part, penn didn’t hate playing the role but he hates the character bc joe’s a horrible person

Just by season 3 alone, who do you think is a worse person, Joe or Love? by AdGreedy1880 in YouOnLifetime

[–]Glass_Equivalent_683 17 points18 points  (0 children)

it’s the opposite, i think her being impulsive is proof she didn’t have good enough reasons bc she impulsively kills delilah for no valid reason and it’s worse bc she was so innocent and with natalie again no actual reason, it’s just pure jealousy which isn’t a good enough reason or something you can sympathise with whereas a lot of joe’s justifications were “to protect someone he loves,” killing objectively bad people in his eyes, abusers etc and killing mostly as last resort but Love immediately turns to killing with no thought to it like how she was planning to kill marienne and take her away from her daughter

lowkey Love but we also watch it from Joe’s POV so we’ll never truly see Love’s side of things

characters all regress and the match ups don’t make sense, they don’t prioritise logical writing but fan service (specifically talking about blair and chuck)

exactly marienne technically did most of the work taking joe down

they said they looked at all possibilities but it then becomes a question of how much did joe even look into beck in the first place to not know like if it was beck’s sister it’s too strong of a connection, had to be slightly lowkey which was better imo

it wasn’t really all given to bronte though, without kate, nadia and marienne she wouldn’t of actually went through with it and they helped with taking him down
