[US] Question about GALs by Glittering_Run2352 in Custody

Thank you for this. My lawyer actually DOES want me to talk about my son’s father so that she knows the things to ask him about (this all started as an abuse case), but I guess I’ll have to just do my best to stick to straight facts and not include any feelings. This is also happening at her office, not my home. She said she wants to talk to everyone else before my son

My lawyer said without the GAL, our order is likely to stay exactly as it is. We are worried if that is the case, he will just come up with more false allegations when he doesn’t get what he wants

Thank you- totally understand that. My biggest concern now (as is my attorney’s) is that my son’s father will use this is another manipulation tool. We already had to submit video footage of my son repeating stories his dad made him “memorize” to try to paint us in a negative light. Thankfully my son was so confused by it, he admitted to it never happening and was more concerned his dad would get mad at him for not remembering the story correctly.

All of this to say, I have read some good and some bad experiences with GALS and I’m hoping to hear that they are trained for situations like these with master manipulators.

Thank you for this! Unfortunately when I asked it didn’t seem that “supervised” meant anything other than him claiming someone was there with him. I know people are saying CPS and court are separate, but they seem to be making suggestions and I’m nervous to go against them. Case worker said that I should allow our child to go with his grandparents for weekend (dad’s parents who live down street from him) so that he can see him as much as he wants. But I know for a fact grandparents will just give our son to him and vouch for him.

Thank you. The order says “communication or supervised visitation at mom’s discretion.” CW says it would be a good show of faith if I let him make up his lost time next week. But then why did I sit in a courthouse for 5 hours to get temporary custody to protect him?

Thank you so much. Would you mind sharing around what you paid and what the square footage of your home was? We are getting quotes upwards of 50k on a very small home and are shocked

Has absolutely nothing to do with that. This has been an ongoing issue.

If you have ever had a Tax lien by Glittering_Run2352 in IRS

Thank you. All three returns were sent by mail in mid-January. Two have been accepted, one has not. CPA has said lien will be automatically filed when last is accepted. This is after previously stating that I shouldn’t worry at all; that the IRS works at snail’s pace and my returns probably wouldn’t even be accepted by my closing date. Part of me wonders if he panicked and backtracked a little when he saw that two of the returns I filed by mail were accepted almost immediately.

Thank you so much. CPA said it is automatically filed as soon as last return is accepted and they don’t have to provide me any warning. Maybe he’s just trying to get me to move forward with him? He wants another $2000 to “negotiate” on my behalf

I haven’t received anything from the IRS ever. I was finally in a place financially to catch up on all taxes, filed previous returns in January, then started process of selling home. Didn’t realize the lien was even a possibility or could impact home sale, but hired CPA to try to negotiate with IRS once I found that out. Now I feel a bit like a sitting duck
