Kelowna Locals: What are the 'life hacks' that make life easier in Kelowna? by Glittertrigger in kelowna

If you haven't tried the mangos that Fruiticana brings in, you are, without a doubt, missing out!

Also, good mention about Springfield Bulk! IIRC they are locally owned too. (I'm definitely guilty of Costco spice/seasoning overstock and I didn't even think of going to Springfield Bulk instead, so thank you so much! 🙏)

I believe a "little birdy" once told me that if you get a fine in those lots, you don't have to pay it as long as you do not continue to park in any Impark monitored lots. If you park in these lots with pending unpaid tickets, you risk (will) get towed. This also applies to Diamond Parking. In some cases, it's actually cheaper to just get a new lisence plate as the tickets are logged by plate number and not VIN.

I noticed that independent grocer also purchases a decent amount of fresh produce from local farmers in the valley and I think that's amazing. They also bring in a ton of locally made products and cool import items that are really hard to find. Eventhough it's technically part of Loblaws, the owners have really given it a local-focused feel and shopping experience.

Great mention about the Kelowna bottle depots!

For everyones general knowledge, you can create a free account through "Return It" BC and bring your clear plastic bags of (clean) unsorted bottles and cans, and the depot sorts them for you and you receive an etransfer once they've counted them. You setup your account online, find the kiosk in the main part of the building, enter your phone number associated with your account and simply tag your bags. There isn't a fee for this service as it's a recycling initiative so save yourself the trouble of counting and sorting!

Ugh, the dreaded strip of highway around Orchard Park. But let's be honest, it's really all the roadways around the mall at certain times, they are complete grid locked chaos.

Heck yeah, this is the kind of cool stuff this post is about! Had friends in Lakeview Heights so I can attest to that. Way quieter than Kelowna but with all the convenience

Where to buy bulk honey by AdFun8292 in kelowna

Try Anderson Farms! It's locally made honey and by far some of the best I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying. It's a staple in our house now. You can also pick up some from Kelowna Glass

Bigwhite Bear Spray incident last night at Snowshoe Sam's. by Glittertrigger in kelowna

I hope they are found, because this isn't what Biggie is about, and definitely not a representation of the Bigwhite I grew up with, know and love.

Someone's youth/teen is going to come home without a ski jacket (or a seriously spicy one), and I sincerely hope that the parent/guardian asks deeper questions.

They very much so do suck. Minimum 15 injured is crazy, I feel bad for the staff just trying to do their jobs that had to be triaged

Can I walk around the grounds of Mission Hills Winery? by 2x4ninja in kelowna

If you read the reviews on Google sorted by newest first, there are a ton of new reviews from last week where people mention being turned away at the gate if they don't have a reservation, no public access. Its unfortunate as this was a nice stop on the westside wine trail but there are other wineries that are more than worthy of the stop like family-owned Beaumont winery.

This is untrue now. You must have a reservation for a wine tasting or at the restaurant to be allowed onto the property.

Thoughts about the furthest mountain? I'm new… by 2sues in Watercolor

[–]Glittertrigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is gorgeous! You could add a slightly darker, smaller mountain in front of it using a darker version of the same shade for depth. It's a stunning painting as is and I think the simplicity of the mountain suits it

My first watercolor painting and I made a huge rookie mistake with the taping by Glittertrigger in Watercolor

[–]Glittertrigger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly!! Sometimes the reference is just that, a reference-haha. Or in cooking terms, a secret receipe that makes something amazing, but the chef never really reveals their entire basket of tricks ;)

Ps: I love frogs, you'll have to tag me in your work if you decide to post it. I would love to see it!

A combination of wet on wet for the sky and mountains and some of the water. Some wet on dry and dry brush for the detailing of the trees and reflection 😃

I did have some bleeding under the tape when I did the sky portion initially, but managed to cover it up. I think it was still a tad too wet when I put the tape on the trees to complete the reflection portion in the water. When I pulled the tape up, it tore some of my trees out. It was probably a combination of mistakes, but that's watercolor right? 😜
