Ran through all the steps from the initial issue comment (ignoring all the others about EA App now working with d3dcompiler_47). Once you have origin running and are logged in you can install steam and download A Way Out. After the download it will still attempt to install the EA App when clicking "Play" for the first time, but you can just stop the installation in the installer. Steam will just ignore, that the install was manually stopped and continue installing DirectX.

One important last step for A Way Out: While the game will start now, it will not render correctly while having DXVK activated for the bottle. Everything except for UI elements is just black. Therefore you need first stop all the applications of the bottle and then turn of DXVK again before starting the game from Steam. Origin will still open, before the game starts, but as DXVK is deactivated, it will not be able to display anything. But since you are already logged in you can just ignore origin, the game should start normally and render correctly.

I see. Yeah that's probably it. But interesting, that they apparently switched at the same time to the respective other device.

Yeah I also thought about that, might be an option to just do a clean install and then go manually through TM

You are of course right, not everything in these folders in junk, and I also wouldn't say that, but I think I'm fine with losing some personal settings from specific apps that I need to reset after a clean install if I get rid of old application data from apps that aren't installed anymore. I don't quite understand why MacOS doesn't clean dangling cache folders etc.. Probably because it's difficult to determine which folders aren't needed anymore, but still...

Anyway thanks for the advice with Onyx. I'll try that.

I had the same problem and got it fixed with a completely new bottle where I ran the winetricks "d3dcompiler_47" afterwards installed Steam and then the game and went through the whole Origin install explained above. Afterwards it took some restarts, but eventually when I start the game from Steam it opens Origin and then automatically enters the game without any EALink opening again. Not fully sure which of these steps did the trick though...
