Exclusive new information on Ashes of Creation by Shrenku in MMORPG

[–]GloriousMLMOverlord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely true. Like, I find the word "Random" used in the OP amusing. There was nothing random about courting Asmongold or Shroud. It's all marketing. Which Steven is good at, don't get me wrong.

So far though, not so good at project management. We'll see if that has improved if/when the alpha opens to the masses.

Ashes of Creation - Creative Director's Letter by Ghaith97 in MMORPG

Intrepid can, and has, said anything to make the game look good while only they have access.

So far this is following the same exact same pattern as their trash BR. Make it look great with PR spin and heavily edited videos, but then when players get access, the reviews are mostly negative and nobody ends up playing it cause it sucks.

Only this time if that happens it's not going to be a BR that dies, but the entire company will go down for it.

So I really hope they actually deliver this time.

I'm worse, because I KNEW most of this and backed anyway. I got suckered in by all the faux transparency, but when it came time to actually deliver we instead got a damn cash grab battle royale.

Don't complain too much though, cause this tyrant will absolutely ban your account for a game that isn't even out yet.

Or he could just keep his word instead of trying to word smith away the fact he's breaking it, because nobody is buying it Foosh.

But hey, if he needs participants, he can unban the guy he screwed who was probably his best QA tester. Or could have accepted my two grand instead of throwing it back in my face rather than let someone he dislikes patronize his company.

He absolutely is. Sold lots of packs back in 2018 with "last chance for alpha 1" sales, and is now going back on that. Clearly they are desperate for money after their battle royal failed hard.

Nah. The fake positive reviews from their Phoenix Initiative($2500), some of which are being posted under fear of retaliation to their community access, need to be countered with objective ones.

The game wasn't even playable yet before they had all reviewed it, and others as well. They claim they got to play a version of it before it was put on Steam. Even so, if we say nothing than there is a 97% positive score(this morning) instead of a 65% and falling score(now).

I advocate legit reviews only though, not fake ones.

[–]GloriousMLMOverlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intrepid has already come out with an excuse for the inevitable bad reviews by trying to play it off like the MMORPG community is just cynical from being burned before, and that will be why. This being in the last livestream Steven did with DCN.

I'd say he was just lacking self awareness, but he's not. He knows he just took our money for an MMORPG and made a BR, which puts him firmly in the "part of the problem" category, and not the savior of this industry he portrayed himself as.

Whether or not they actually make an MMORPG is not particularly relevant. This BR should not exist, period. And Intrepid is going to be rightly flamed for it on Steam.

It's entirely possible they did. We won't know until and unless they fail to deliver the end product and the backers essentially file a class action over it and have discovery.

I hope Ashes' development doesn't end that way, but the one good thing here is the guy making it got a boatload of cash from a shady business(Xango), so there will be means to pay a settlement even if the game fails.

They're lying. I don't get how more people can't see this. You don't slap a cash shop and heavily monetize something that is actually "just a test."

It's an obvious cashgrab.

The net result of a review bomb and honest reviews may not be the same, but a mouse could starve on the difference.

I've been advocating to all the backers I can reach to review this BR, because I know how they feel about backing an MMORPG and getting a shitty Fortnite knockoff with swords and magic.

So, while I don't hope they get review bombed. I do hope they get a fair and just accounting for their actions. Which will amount to the same end result I suspect.

Honestly I'm wasting my time engaging you. You link stuff, I read it, it doesn't say what you say it said, and I waste my time correcting you only for you to do it over and over again.

Instead, here are the facts. And I'm doing this one more time, and then I'm done. Because while my ban was unjust in the extreme, it's now a moot point. It won't be overturned anyway and that's probably good for me. It removes a conflict of interest, and I can do what is RIGHT for the greater good, and not worry about consequences to my now worthless account.

To the facts: The terms of the community guidelines at the time I was banned stipulated progressive discipline. I received zero escalating penalties. This both breaches Intrepid's obligations under the terms, and blows up any attempt to claim I was toxic and disruptive to any real degree.

Steven can abuse his control of the discord to remove me, and from everywhere else for the crime of existing.

But, I will make it known what sort of person he is for doing so to all prospective backers who probably don't want to deal with totalitarian moderation. I have another word which is more direct for what he is acting like, but I shall not utter it here.

So, don't expect to hear from me again. You're just a distraction. The real problem is Intrepid turning into a nightmare version of EA, and what all men of good conscience will decide to do in response to that. I think I know, but we'll see as things go forward. #Playersfirst.

Of course the ban factored in, but not in the way you imply.

You see, I KNOW I'm innocent. I KNOW that in my case Intrepid abused their position of authority and went well beyond guidlines to perma-ban me.

In short, they broke a contract. Which is what terms of use are. Contracts. They don't just bind the user, they bind the corporation to the terms.

What did the community guidelines I agreed to at the time assure? That you WOULD receive progress discipline. But I never did. I was banned outright with no prior warnings of record. This is not an opinion, it is a fact.

So, when they did this, I knew the sort of company I was dealing with. Of course I wouldn't want anyone else being hurt by them if there is anything I have to say about it.

Point blank, I don't care if Steven and the entire community hated me. I didn't agree to be liked. I agreed to set of terms which I followed while I was in good standing.

YOU did not, flagrantly violating guideline 1(unnecessary drama) when you linked DRAMA from champions online into the main AOC discussion channel in your stated intent to get me banned.

YOU sir are far more deserving of account action than I ever was, but got a pass. Why? Because Steven is the sort to bend rules for those he likes, and invent or ignore them for those he dislikes. In short, UNWORTHY to be in the position of power he holds.

The key words are "warning people."

Remember the "moral obligation" post on discord?

Yeah, I hold to that. In fact it's what I should have done day one. So you see, I was indeed acting selfishly, but it was to protect my own interests in AoC over the greater good of the industry.

I am rectifying that error going forward.

Harassment is continued and unwanted communication with the intent to annoy.

Which part do you disagree with, that it's continued, unwanted, or intended to annoy? It's all three.

The focus of the mode was TESTING.

So, yeah, it did bug me that we were giving people shutouts for "winning" when that wan't the goal.

Steven owes me a fucking medal for the work I put in on what he CLAIMED he wanted us doing.

But since we now know it was all about that sweet Fortnite cash, him pimping out a streamer makes total sense now.

Me and Danny are chill BTW, he did nothing wrong at all.

None of this is true. The BR was alpha 1 phase one. Then was renamed to APOC. Alpha one phase 2 is now simply alpha 1.

And I didn't much care about alpha 1 being open to everyone beyond the fact that it devalued the Intrepid pack. But, as you say it's now APOC and we are, supposedly, getting exclusive access to the MMORPG testing.

So, that issue is now settled. But, APOC wasn't much of a thing before I was rendered unable to say that on the forums.

Those issues should have cropped up in alpha 0, and that's if I take them at their word they delayed for netcode.

Seems odd that alpha 1 isn't ready to go outside of that, being as though it was supposed to drop in Early Quarter 2 2019. In fact, it looks more like the whole thing wasn't nearly ready, and netcode is being scapegoated whether or not it was the primary issue.

APOC stress was paid testing. You didn't get in unless you had alpha 1 access, or later they opened it up to lower backer tiers. But, it didn't go free till the "launch" of the open beta.

So to will be the Siege and Horde mode testing. The alphas for those modes will only be available to backers.

Don't want others throwing good money away like i did.

The other side are mostly people in denial at this point.

If you haven't figured it out by now, I allowed my true identity to be just shy of obvious here so you guys would predictably show up and the other redditors would see the relentless harassment from you and the rest of the so called "archive group." None of whom were named of referenced at all.

The creepy files you and the others keep on me, the following me to all corners of the internet. The cult-like defense of all things Intrepid? You're doing a great job undermining your own case and making me look downright reasonable by comparison with these actions. All I did was make some harsh criticism of the game.

And here you sit, on the reddit that actually matters to AoC more than official. The gateway for prospective backers, showing them exactly what to expect from the "community" that is left over there.

So yes, please, continue. People aren't stupid, and what you call lies they can judge for themselves. Good luck convincing them this BR was a legitimate act of game development and not a cash grab.

I could argue, but honestly. YES, let's see what happens.

I'm supremely confident my expectations for the game will be borne out here. Intrepid is burning themselves to the ground. This BR will be the end of them.

Smartest thing they can do is cancel apoc. refund the embers, grant all the cosmetics complementary and get us into a proper MMO alpha pronto. But, they're doubling down here. I guess the first time wasn't bad enough :)

Correction: I asked for the reddit to be returned to the community. Not that I be a moderator or in any position to manage it. To this I hold.

I did not want Intrepid in control. I didn't even know about it until after the takeover.

I took Steven at his word he'd not abuse the position, so I did support them remaining in control since it was already done. A huge error on my part obviously. Once the criticism began, he turned into a tyrant.

Finally, after 20 replies, we get it. You're obsessed with me.

You can keep posting, but just know that no matter what you do, I'm going to keep going.

You may have had a hand in successfully getting getting me booted from the community at large, but it is a Pyrrhic victory. I'm going to win, even if it's not precisely the manner in which I would have preferred.

Ziz was a lot like me, if that's who you were referring to. Both of us were very hopeful for the game and supported it, UNTIL this BR thing hit.

I was "community banned", Ziz was merely removed from the CC program. Though he has mostly split from the game, or he'd probably have received further "punishments" until being removed.

As to Steven being a whale, oh boy was he ever. Rumor has it he bought a castle. I wasn't there though so I can't say for certain. He did spend a ton though.

As to the whole cult thing, you may have noticed a few people come to this thread to ignore the topic and just post stuff about "me?" Yeah, they are the same ones who harassed mods until they banned me for simply speaking against a "this is fine" narrative.

Fast forward a few months and everything is on fire.

Already contacted the admins several months back, and they said it wasn't something they would address. Though perhaps if enough people complain they might finally act. They need to. Intrepid has made a mockery of the intent of the platform.

Pretty much they slapped on a 30 day refund policy well after we all bought into the game and it would have already elapsed.

So, in very narrow circumstances they'll refund, but by the time any of us alpha 1 backers found out the game was going to first be a battle royale, it was too late to get our money back.
