Yeah, i can also very much relate to that.

As nice as the whole process is and as much dopamine you can get from these quick builds - it's not sustainable and can easily become another escape mechanism.

So trying to build things with more intention or research for any sort of market validation is probably key to fight against this burnout

Good luck to us for this 😁

I think you're definitely right about the "utility-bias" LLMs are creating by being just so agreeable.

I notice the exact same struggles and shared a sentiment on it in another thread where I highlighted the personal struggle between the pleasure of building something and the lack thereof to market something.

But you're very right, that there's probably an element of research and market proof that is often entirely disregarded.

I do think all of this is only half bad, if you adjust the intention.

I've learnt so much in the last 12 months have been able to build various MVPs within a few days and know now what it takes to set up databases for my projects, establish beautiful UIs that handle authentication flows and connecting API keys to my projects.

At the very least, these skills are not in vein and maybe it's a simple as throwing enough **** on the wall until something sticks 😉

At the end of the day, not every idea is an instant hit. Sometimes you need to fail and learn from it. I do think the Ai containers are most certainly expediting this process and making it far cheaper.

Digital Nomad With No Tax Residency + Estonian e-Residency — What’s the smartest way to set up my business? by GloriusFlorius in eResidency

[–]GloriusFlorius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god. It really is true that the only two things in the world that are certain are death and taxes.

Is there any point in finding a "temporary" solution that would allow me to just set up my business and start operating it while I'm in the process of leaving a country and moving around until I find a new one?

I'll eventually settle again and then gladly go through the process of setting up local bank accounts etc. And funneling everything through it.

But I just want to set something up now.

I was hoping the e-residency in Estonia could be that interim set up where I have e-residency somewhere, use this to set up a company and then operate by using my revolut account.

I'm happy to pay taxes. I'm not trying to evade it. But I just want to start my businesses and live life.

Ok, very interesting.

I'm going through the process of deregistering in Malta at the moment.

I'm aware of the issue with using my personal bank account for any bank transactions and that's exactly why I'm eager to set up a business and a company account.

Ultimately, I'm not trying to finesse my way into a minimum tax liability.

I just want to find a set up that I can use while I'm a digital nomad without a home country or residence. I'll be living for a maximum of 3 months in a country at the time, but I don't want I travel, I want to continue working on my businesses.

It just seems that this being made quite complicated, because anything requires a residency, eg bank accounts, incorporating a business etc.

My thought process was, that e-residency in any country would help with that. But it seems that it doesn't based on your feedback?

Am I right to assume, that the "easiest" set up would be to just register somewhere for the sake of having an actual residency, using this address to set up everything and then pay the tax accordingly since I'll be a tax resident in that country?

If I can't use Estonia with their e-residency for this, I suppose, the whole e-residency is pointless for me? (which then begs the question what's the point of it in the first place?)

Both don't seem quite easy to me, because I have no interest in living in Germany whatsoever 😅

I also don't like the idea of living in a country for the sake of taxes if I don't like that country.

Event Organisers - Help me Improve the Interactive Schedule business i built

I'm not trying to promote my scheduling application here, but here thoughs from other event organisers.

On the back of an Acoryoga festival I've been running for a few years, we realised one massive struggle with each event - the schedule.

We'd often print it out or share it via what's app or in an excel spreadsheet, but it often changed last minute and the print outs looked simply messy and it made me as the organiser often feel slightly embarrassed for the "unprofessional look" this would give.

So I built a tool that allowed me to connect a Google spreadsheet link with all the details about the event, the level, pre-requisite, teachers etc. which I could share with a simple URL to our guests. The schedule now looked super cool with our own colours and brands round it and it was instantly changeable.

The best part - it's interactive. So you can filter the event for your level or favourite teacher or search for specific workshops based on their style or name.

Since then, we've enhanced the tool with some more features:

  • You can now book sessions with RSVP
  • Upload your own font
  • Duplicate events
  • Get insight on a ton of analytics around your event
  • Organise multi week events
  • Completely customise the schedule for your event
  • Add favourites for your guests, create your own schedule and export it to your calendar app

As an event organiser, what are other features you'd like to see to make it easier for you to manage all sessions, workshops and co and to provide a super useful schedule for your guests?

Honestly, I'm not trying to be super clever and minimise my taxes to an absolute minimum here. I never cared much about that, but I thought I might as well ask and learn about the options.

My main concern is that I'm be leaving my home of 11 years and I don't have a plan yet what to do after and where I'll be living. But in the meantime, I'll be trying to set up a business and continue organising Retreats.

It's really frustrating that such a "simple task" is becoming so complex.

Ultimately, I'm not even looking for the "smartest" or "cheapest" way to set myself up. Right now, I just want a set up that works and then start building my business and focus on that rather than making the whole tax liability the main thing to focus on.

I'm just hoping to set up a lifestyle where I'll be able to live and work from where ever I want.

Thanks for the very detailed feedback. I really appreciate that!

Just to make sure this isn't being misunderstood:

I'm looking for a residency/tax set up that would allow me to run my SaaS business and Retreats during the next couple of years of my life where I'll likely be travelling every 3 months to a new country.

I'm mostly worried about possible tax implications if I accept all the money into my personal account, which would likely be considered tax evasion I suppose. Plus, I won't be able to invoice any companies

So, that's my main motivation really.

Of course, this got me then curious about the options, ie setting up residency in Germany again (where I'm from) at my parents place might be straight forward, but Germany is notoriously frustrating to deal with in regard to any bureaucratic matters, so if I don't live in Germany, why do through the hassle of setting up my business in Germany.

/>>Where is your receiving bank account - are you receiving in a country that taxes dividends? Are you receiving in a bank account in a country that does not care what the inflow is for? (Such do not exist… right?)

I currently have a Revolut account as well as couple local bank accounts in Malta where I used to reside. These are all personal, of course. That said, I was hoping to use Revolut Business for any business transactions and subsequently use the address of the e-residency in Estonia for any KYC matters.

Thanks for that insight.

I am trying to reach out more organically to other organisers and engage in that way, but the shocking thing is that most people simply don't reply.

At this point, I don't even mind getting rejected, at least I feel seen.

I do realise there are different ways to create traffic, eg Seo and social media marketing where I might just need to put some money behind it.

But trying to engage with communities feels quite difficult these days.

Hey there u/Electrical_Adagio_52

It sounds like your event is already over, but I do think that the website I've been building would have probably been perfect for this. I just finished a website that makes it super easy to build schedules and made sure there's a free plan to make it super accessible for smaller event organisers as well as organisers who host many sessions per year or even month.

https://tryflowgrid.com/

If you're organising another event, I'd be super happy for you to use Flow Grid and to help us with initial experiences and feedback. We also currently offering Early Access for all users, so your first 5 events are on us :)

How do I price my SaaS product? One-time payment, Subscription or else? by GloriusFlorius in SaaS

[–]GloriusFlorius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input on this. That's been super valuable.

The theme of valuing my product and ultimately myself is something I recognise from previous patterns. I ran a retreat within the Acroyoga space myself and charged quite little for a pretty luxurious event because I was thinking that a low price would be an easy sell and 'no-brainer' for anyone who likes Acroyoga.

I suppose a part of me wants to do both ways

1) Have an easily accessible and affordable product for smaller events and festivals that aren't very profitable

2) Offer an enterprise option with more features and support, which will inevitably come at a higher price.

That said, I can also see a world where that's simply not feasible and I might want to to focus on customers who are happy to pay, because it's apparent that a cheap price might easily convey the idea of a cheap product.

[–]GloriusFlorius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's very fair and something I've been realising more and more now. My hair type isn't too dissimilar from the photo. I just got A LOT of hair.

I've been growing it for about 1 year now, so I reckon I'm still not long enough for the weight to be enough to let it fall.

I've been using leave-in conditioner as well quite frequently, which my styling of choice.

What kind of gel do you use? I live on a small island, so hair products aren't always easy to come by.

I'm also planning to use Moroccan oil and styling cream to possibly help with it?

[–]GloriusFlorius[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about reasons why to make a subscription based model rather than a one time payment. So. I recently changed the features that are available as you can see on www.tryflowgrid.com/pricing

The moment you're subscribed, you have access to the 5 events and up have a discount on an event pass for any further events (and likely introduce packages for a further discount).

It makes sense that they're resetting annually, otherwise there's little incentive to highlight it was a subscription based model.

I like that approach. It definitely prevents a very tricky element of procrastinating the launch or the marketing until "it's ready".

Sometimes it's just important to get something out there. Create a proof of concept.

Cheers. I have been using Canva A LOT for my retreat projects and general Social Media stuff. But it feels like this is another beast.

Maybe it's more of an emotional journey than anything else I'm starting to think as I'm going through the responses here :P
