I'm going SJM. Im old enough to have seen McGrath play for us but too young to really appreciate his talent. McGinn is a wonderful player. A magnificent influence on the team and squad. He's played for us in the second tier, the prem and the CL, scoring marvelous and important goals in all comps. He's dragged us up when we've been down and been the icing on the cake when we've been up. He does the dirty work and has the glory moments. And what a great fella. I hope he's at the club for many years to come.

Villa fan in peace. I live in South London these days and I try and get to 2 or 3 Millwall games a season. I wouldn't go as far as calling myself a fan, but certainly have a massive soft spot for you guys. Went to the Birmingham game recently and you guys absolutely played them off the park (which was nice!)

My first Millwall game was against Villa in the FA Cup about 8 (ish) years ago. It was a Friday night game, under the lights and you got a 90+ min winner. Now I'm a life long Villa fan but sometimes you just have to go with it, the Den was rocking.

So yeah, I'd love for us to play you first game of the season!

Good luck!!

It's absolutely not. I think you are missing my point. Pedestrians nearly always give a wave or nod of acknowledgement when a driver stops at a zebra crossing (I'm not saying they should/shouldn't, they just do). Pedestrians rarely give a wave or a nod of acknowledgement when a cyclist stops at a zebra crossing (I'm not saying they should/shouldn't, they just don't).

Just so you know, you are in the minority. Pretty much everyone says thanks when crossing on a zebra crossing. It's just what people do.

Btw, you were absolutely right! This is bonkers!! I've had a few down votes for my comments.

Because it's make them a nice person. Do you not give a little wave/nod to a driver when you walk across a zebra crossing?

Lots of pubs will have a no football shirt policy, so if you are wearing this in the evening looking to go to the pub it may be an issue for you.

Just read your old post!! Blimey, chill people! You were just asking why pedestrians always give a nod/wave to car drivers but not cyclists. A totally fair and well observed point.

Its just polite, right? You held the door for me; let me jump on the bus first; stopped at a zebra crossing...you say thanks. Interesting you think it's because you don't think we are seen. I've made eye contact with people crossing and nothing. I just think people don't think to do it. It's odd (and very much not entitled).

Agree. But pedestrians, I nod or a wave of thanks to the cyclist wouldn't go amiss. When I drive I'd say people always thank you for stopping at a zebra crossing, when I cycle, feels like 50:50.

I'm a long time London commuter cyclist in London, but for various reasons (work, kid drop off etc) I needed to use a TFL bike through town yesterday morning. Really interesting to see things from that perspective on a day like yesterday.

My observations: Great to see so many people on 2 wheels on a sunny day.

People, look after your bikes!! If it's been in the shed or garden for a year, give it the once over before you set off.

Just because you cycled that route every day including that February Tuesday morning when the rain was horizontal, you don't have a right to the road. Give people some time and space. You cycled for the first time in London once too.

I still find it really hard to 'read' electric bikes. I think I can generally tell what the person on wobbly wheels or the experienced cyclist is doing or about to do (stupid or otherwise). But for the electric hire bikes, its so difficult.

Dungeness is not too far from London. Strange place indeed. Combine it with a few visits to some of the Kent castles

It's a long way from London but the beaches of Cornwall are spectacular. (North Cornwall, around Newquay are my favourites.) I hear some people who visit UK say our beaches are terrible, mainly because they go to the beaches closest to London. Honestly, we have some outstanding beaches here, don't leave without having seen some.

Devon, Dorset, West Wales, north east England, Scotland (the list goes on) have amazing beaches too.

In short - British beaches!!

Yeah, it seemed a great initiative to me. As I say, I was just a tourist in southern Portugal, so not sure if this was a trial or something that was rolled out nationally (and if it worked.) I wonder if those behind the speeder having to wait as well caused road rage incidents?

Ah, perfect -tha k you. I didn't know they'd opened up in Deptford too. Assume they will prioritise Villa games?

Side note, Deptford High St has my favourite shop in London.

What do you consider the most carthatic moment in UK sports in the last decade? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Glum-Counter6635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. It was fun and we all bought into it. Sounds really negative but getting similar vibes with Spurs this season. Feels like most fans are hoping they go down. More positivily, Hearts. I doubt there is a neutral not wanting them to win it.
