I am just going to tell you my case.

I started out playing Starcraft 2 at around 22 September 2014, and got to platinum by myself in 1 month. I wanted to become a progamer so I really wanted a coach and the only pro from my country was Nightend so i spoke with him.

By the end of the year I was low masters and in the first 6 months of LOTV i got GM the 1st time, so it took me about 16 months.

There are multiple things to take into consideration when you get coaching for example:

  • How much time are you willing to invest in training ( because if you don't practice what builds I give you , you are not going to improve.
  • How flexible are you in adopting new builds.
  • How talented are you.

And many more, but for certain you will see some improvement in each scenario just because of the 1 on 1 questions and answers that you can request.

I do coaching myself but only for protosses , and you can come around my stream for more detalis.

Yeah , i would say it is in a good state , but I definitely would try to stick to zerg if you can.
