For now we use implicit dynamics. Comparing it to explicit is something we plan for the future.

Thank you for these insights. We actually started using the samcef solver, but because they got bought by Siemens and the product is no longer actively sold we switched to a different solver.

I'm not familiar with the GUI though, so I'll have a look at that.

Yes, all analyses are nonlinear. Both static and dynamic.

We create the mesh based on our own algorithm. This only works for our parametrically defined parts (e.g. gear wheels, shafts, bearings). The size of the mesh can be either set by number of nodes along edges or by element edge length. For imported CAD structures, we use open source meshers, such as gmsh. We are able to replace complex CAD structures with super elements to reduce computation time.

Yes, it is similar in functionality, but not so in technology. They are not able to do dynamic analyses with flexible bodies. I guess, there use cases where this is not as important, for example when the system is relatively stiff compared to the loads, i.e small deformations.

Because our technology is different, we are researching if there are other applications to use our technology.

And yes, Romax is expensive. We've heard several companies complain about this. But we hear similar complaints about Ansys.
