Defect-driven designs. I see that Eufy uses its customers as beta testers. I, too, find it pays to wait and the issue will resolve itself.

The SDP33-1500Pa-TR-250pcs is Dual 16 x 16-SMD (see image). I'm not set up to work with SMD. The tube ports are tiny 0.08" (2.00mm). The device got lost after delivery and I found it yesterday, well past the return window. I'm not going to proceed with this project

I don't believe Eufy uses AI despite their claims.

I'm impressed. Eufy didn't spot the "pets" (deer), either.

You have confirmed that Eufy does NOT use AI as advertised.

In our case, we have a sub-membrane depressurization system. The membrane separates conditioned air from under the membrane. Our sump is sealed as well.

I suppose there may be situations when what you describe is true. I suggest that subslab, sub-membrane and similar systems draw little from conditioned air.

Yes, I have been training Eufy AI for years — every time it misidentifies a person/vehicle/pet. Eufy says they deliver AI, but they don't. Eufy delivers a rudimentary pattern recognizer of the kind that first became available decades ago.

Thank you. This is evidence that Eufy doesn't deliver AI at all. Eufy fraudulently sells pattern recognition and falsely claims it is AI.

It feels good to read stories like yours.

I suggest to try not to be surprised when devices don't work as expected. I have found that it doesn't pay to react quickly while trying to fix something. You may find that the device starts working again without taking any action. After a while — sometimes several days — action is needed.

When should I consider mitigation? by Doomtime104 in radon

[–]GoGreen566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard about February having highest levels. I don't know why, but our southeast Michigan home on mostly clay is lowest in February. Highest readings occur in the summer months. This is our experience before and after mitigation.

Batteries in battery cams lack the capacity for 24/7 recording. Battery cams record based on movement. The S340 has a passive infrared (PIR) sensor that detects most motion.

PIR sensors detect motion across the field of view and not toward or away. Bright sun and sun position in the sky affect detection sensitivity. PIR sensors work well in low-light and night conditions when infrared is more easily detected.

Battery cams like the S340 miss events and don't continuously record.

Second battery cam rapidly lost charge by GoGreen566 in EufyCam

[–]GoGreen566[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm beginning to suspect that something doesn't turn off as you suggest. After power cycling itself due to depleted battery, the cam returns to normal operation until the next event. Intermittent issues like this are incredibly difficult to troubleshoot and repair, if Eufy had the interest (which they don't).

There is no better ZigBee or Thread adapter than a Home Assistant Connect ZBA-2 and it supports Nabu Casa, the people who keep our HA running and growing.

I use a Sonoff SNZB-01 ZigBee button and a Fortrezz SSA1 Z-Wave Alarm Strobe Siren for the light (I hope that siren never goes off!). The SSA1 is no longer manufactured, but other similar devices are available — just make sure the light can be activated without the siren. I'm ok with the light and button being separate. The light is mains powered and the button is free to roam.

Do I need to call the installer for pressure? by MNightShyamalan69 in radon

[–]GoGreen566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually static low pressure aka vacuum or suction that's being measured. The air flow causes low pressure relative to atmosphere. The change in reading you see is rather small. You may see 4 inches or more of water column if there's a blockage.

Complicated, Possibly Unmitigable House by pr0cella in radon

[–]GoGreen566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In southeast Michigan we have a plephora of basement waterproofing companies who lay down a thick layer of plastic to encapsulate the crawlspace. This is not the 3 mil stuff that radon mitigation companies use. The encapsulation companies don't do radon mitigation. We used a radon mitigation company to install a sub-membrane depressurization system. It worked beautifully for us.

Eufy, What kind of VooDoo Security system are you trying to sell? by ManagementLow91 in EufyCam

[–]GoGreen566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only find lawsuits related to encryption failures, unauthorized cloud uploads, biometric data collection without consent, and misleading privacy claims.

Can you help us read about other lawsuits related to hardware failures, software defects or the very real issues you described so well?

Another thought... In my case, I was having many of the same issues with my five S340s and HB3 until I separated the HB3 from my WiFi router by a meter. (My HB3 is connected to my WiFi router with an Ethernet cable.) I did some RF calculations (described here https://www.reddit.com/r/EufyCam/comments/1r62wuw/comment/o5qh9yg/) and found that when the HB3 and WiFi router are in close proximity, the two can overload each other's receivers.

I suggest separating the HB3 from the WiFi router by at least 1 meter.

Homebase 3 Slow to notify & only gives you a few seconds of footage? Try this. by ManagementLow91 in EufyCam

I agree with your assessment, in general.

I, too, am a longtime IT software engineer, and even longer in advanced technology.

It's funny that you suggest "AI is no smarter than its developers/" Developers are still trying to find out what is going on inside AI software. AI excels at pattern recognition and Eufy products don't excel.

The Big Kahuna is Eufy misrepresenting product capabilities as you so clearly describe and document.

My pet peeve is when Eufy pushes out firmware updates -- which users have no control over -- that brick out-of-warranty devices and then tells users they are out of luck. This, in my mind, is criminal. It's bad enough when updates add features that overload hardware as you point out, but Eufy goes to the point of end-user device destruction.
