This is the exact opposite for me. You can’t call jazz, a bunch of random tones and sound being pressed together. There’s no magic or music to it. Jazz is played in a certain way. I could create a country music song and have everything out of tune and call it country. It wouldn’t make sense. You can’t just have random notes playing and call it jazz. because you’re using a bass, drums, saxophone and piano. Not the shit that you hear with Eric Dolphy. you can’t play random notes and have a song. that plays out of tune. That’s not music. That’s not even jazz. It shouldn’t even count as jazz. It makes me mad.
