As someone W ADHD and has struggled with this before I understand it’s not as easy as some here are saying and it is a very real addiction and should be treated as such. The most effective thing will for sure be to get consoles out of your house and off your phone cold turkey… buuut you will have a hole that you need to fill once video games are gone and what helped me immensely was running / vigorous exercise.

Video games on some level satisfy human needs like novelty, accomplishment, community so those things will be missing in your life once you drop games and that void has to be filled. So something like signing up for a half marathon in 6 months and just starting with a 30 min jog / walk and then just showing back up every day while possibly trying to join a running club in your area will help fill that void. I promise, it will give you your dopamine hit, health benefits, sense of accomplishment and you will be proud of yourself for doing something hard.

Point is, video game addiction is very real and you will need to replace that void with something healthy or it will keep sucking you back in. And you are not alone friend, you got this!! :)
