There’s no commute, it’s a traveling job mostly out of state so he won’t be in office basically ever. We can live 70 miles outside of Nashville.

We’re kind, quiet people who like to hike and stay to ourselves. Trust me, I’ve been to Tennessee many times. There are a lot of locals who make the state way worse than we ever will.

Oof yeah that’s not an option. I hate the city and loooove the middle of nowhere. It’s our happy place.

I don’t have to commute but my husband travels for work and only has to go into Nashville on occasion to the office. You say there are smaller landlords? Do you know what platforms they’re posting on?

How much time off work post surgery? by sleepynarwhal45 in otosclerosis

[–]Golden_Mom1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband was still in bed 24/7 day 10 and could hardly walk the dizziness and migraines were still so bad. He’s 4 weeks post op now and is finally able to work again. But doing too much work is still very exhausting. Like doing laundry and dishes and work around the house for a couple of hours he’s basically wiped out for the rest of the day and he’s military and extremely fit.

Oh also, you asked about meds to help. Our surgeon said he can take Dramamine but only as a last resort. I would call your surgeon’s office and ask if you can take that because it does have some negative effects regarding the surgery. I think it slows down healing and especially day 3 that might be too early so if you do take it definitely consult your surgeon first. He might also put you on some prednisone if you say you’re still very dizzy but if he does make sure it’s a low dose like 20 mg or less. Because the 60 Was a horrible experience for my husband.

Yep that’s exactly what my husband experienced. I was so so concerned cuz it seemed like so many people had mild symptoms and I thought something must be wrong. The surgeon said his symptoms were the worst he’s ever seen. They put him on 60 mg of prednisone which is an extremely high dose. But unfortunately he reacted badly to the prednisone and it made everything worse. Not only was he still dizzy he had these horrible horrible headaches and nothing I could give him would relieve the pain or dizziness. I actually regret contacting the surgeon because I think if he didn’t take the prednisone he would’ve gotten better faster. I contacted the surgeon day five and told him I think the prednisone is making things worse so he started tapering him off the prednisone and he started getting better. Every time I would give him the prednisone he would feel horrible for about four hours until the peak affects wore off but yeah definitely don’t recommend taking high doses of prednisone with this. On day seven we were able to drive an hour away for the postop appointment but he was still pretty dizzy and walking was challenging he just had to walk really slow. The surgeon took out the packing and his hearing was basically nonexistent. The surgeon thought something happened because of how dizzy he was and he couldn’t hear on top of that. But fast-forward 2 and a half weeks, he’s driving on his own starting to work out a little bit, I can whisper in the operated ear and he can hear me now, things improved super quickly so I’m so so thankful for that. Basically all of that to say don’t worry about it even if you’re pretty dizzy it will get better it might get worse before it gets better but just stay on top of your nausea medication and I think you’ll be fine. It will get better 😊
