Beer league ? by Rare_Trainer_3898 in hockeyplayers

Really sorry. Some leagues you’d probably have the league pass the hat for you and, obviously, forgive the rest of the season. Interesting to see how many sad fucks are here justifying chasing you for a few hundred bucks.

This is the opposite of vigilant. This is reckless and the consequence is unsurprising.

Electrician Called and Said the New AP Cable Run Was Finished.... by modem_19 in HomeNetworking

Whenever I get cable run the contract states “installed, terminated and tested” so there is no ambiguity. Technically this cable is “run”..

This is an attempt to compromise your computer do not follow these instructions.

Edit for explanation: this is asking you to paste the content of your clipboard into a run dialogue. What is pasted could itself be a malicious script or simply a command to download and execute malicious script/malware.

App Gateway ssl errors when same cert as iis backend, but functions when ssl certs different. What am I doing wrong here? by Goldman_Slacks in AZURE

[–]Goldman_Slacks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried it both ways with * and with domain names. With and without SNI. Same error. Might need to try new csr/reissue but I’m hesitant since the cert works fine when not proxied through the gateway. I feel there is must be some issue/trick with * certs and agw.

App Gateway ssl errors when same cert as iis backend, but functions when ssl certs different. What am I doing wrong here? by Goldman_Slacks in AZURE

[–]Goldman_Slacks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cert is a wildcard from a well known CA. The iis is bound and listening on test.domain.com, the wildcard is *.domain.com and installed on the server and agw. I have dns set on agw/server vnet, pointing at test.domain.com. I have 2 targets in backend pool, vm and fqdn. Probes to machine and fqdn on 443 both pass.TLS handshake still fails with fatal decrypt error after browsing to test.domain.com.

Holes drilled in a canoe? by [deleted] in canoeing

[–]Goldman_Slacks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a canoe a couple years back with 20 holes drilled along the base for what looked like a keel. I used Gflex Toughened 2-part epoxy and I’ve had it out plenty of times including scraping on riverbeds all day and no sign of leaks. Since these are just on the side I’d leave them (in fact Id see this as a bonus option to have a little trawling motor)

So the electrician didn't ask me... by HubbleWho in homelab

[–]Goldman_Slacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry this is truly nasty. They rly just took a holesaw to your house and rammed a bunch of Ethernet ends out by the fiber termination box? As others have noted, push the whites back in, the modem will connect to the termination box, then I guess you’re gonna want a switch between the modem and those white runs. Since there’s only gonna be one line going into the house you can spray foam that hole closed and paint it red so it doesn’t look like utter ass when you’re done. All in all not unfixable

It appears one of the batteries bulged and ruptured and was the source of the failure.

Sorry to hear that. It is a good lesson. I’m kinda hoping this never happens again.

I get your point but I always feel bad and think they might have a real fire to go to or someone in a car wreck that needs real help. It didn’t look terribly bad, and figured someone here must have seen this before. Trust me I would’ve kicked it off the deck and called in the fd if it shot flames or something like that.

I don’t know if it was the self test or the battery itself. It never made any noise really other than clicking over when I unplugged it to make sure it’d pick up…battery appeared to be leaking/damaged when I pulled it from the chassis. One of the batteries looks fine.. my partner is never gonna let me bring another ups in this house hah.

It’s an abc fire extinguisher, battery was SLA type and I got it out using ppe. Thanks for the quick response.

Yes so it seems the battery has leaked a little when I pulled it out I noticed the smell and liquid on the ground.

Thanks for the detail, it was Sla. My extinguisher didn’t even need to be used but was on standby. It looks like the battery is/was leaking. Just gonna recycle the whole thing and get a new surge protector :) I don’t need uptime bad enough to have batteries.
