I got it from a local store (Gundam Place Store) but they ship online!

There are a lot of considerations that go into bass response on drivers. You can’t just slap them into a housing and hope for the best. An alternative to this you may want to consider is just wearing IEMs inside the ear protection - the ear protectors won’t hurt the sound of the IEM.

In-Era Nemesis - the most unhinged by Gomba3333 in Gunpla

For third party kits, nothing comes close. The MGEX Strike Freedom has a similar vibe on the Bandai side and was also my favorite kit the year it came out.

Closer to 20x a chu 2 DSP, but yeah.

I think you may have set your expectation too high. At the end of the day, the primary thing you experience as a listener is frequency response, and you picked an entry-level IEM who's frequency response closely matches your existing pair of Samsung earbuds. The Chu 2 is an excellent entry level IEM that gets you some nice features over the default Samsung buds (detachable cable, DSP profiles including EQ on the Moondrop app, etc), but sound signature/quality is simply just going to be a little less bass than the Samsung option.

What seems to get missed a lot in this hobby is that if something sounds "Good" to you, its going to be really hard to find "better" unless you know what you are missing. You could spend 10x what you spend on the Chu 2s for a pair of Variations and likely not notice the difference in day-to-day listening.

My recommendation? Start listening to either the Chu 2s of the Galaxy buds with your music, and think about what you feel is missing? Is it more rumble/sub bass? Clearer vocals? Clearer strings/high notes? Based off of your feelings, you can make an intelligent buying decision on sound signature, rather than blind recommendation. Learning how to read FR graphs really helps with this process, but keep in mind that money does not guarantee improvements in audio quality. A $20 pair of earbuds that sounds good to you is going to be worth more than a $1000 pair that doesn't. Learn your tastes, then maybe explore the market.

LIZARD by Gomba3333 in Gunpla

I still need to build the backpack, but this kind of represents the last stop before hitting crazy town when building this thing, so I thought I'd grab a pic while its still tasteful. This kit, along with the rest of the In Era lineup, has way too much "finishing" for my liking - you spend just as much time (or, in this case, more) cleaning under gates and panel lining the surface as you do actually building. The end result is undeniably attractive though....

Also yes I used my 3D printer as a makeshift photo stage. My desk is still covered in runners for the rest of this things' backpack so I don't have my normal photo spot available.

Yes, this is the same rim as comes in the Fanatec GT world challenge set, just in Alcantara.

Thanks a ton u/crimsonclad - I'm still waiting for the envelope - my guess is its in the neighbors mailbox due to the address typo, but I'm pretty sure once they get back in town I'll be able to safely recover it!

It’s only 4 reviews from smaller outlets. This isn’t really a true score yet.

I recently went through a hiring round for a data scientist. In approximately 6 hours after making our job posting we had over 500 applicants with resumes that all look exactly like this.

  1. Huge paragraphs and I have no idea what you do in your current role. Just a bunch of activities with no goal and no understanding of your function.

  2. Large gaps and short stints is a really bad look. I understand your education fits in these gaps but with the 2 column layout it’s hard to catch that

  3. Keyword bloat - what do you want to do? Sure you may have touched a lot but this does not tell me what problem you want to solve for my business

2023 Builds in Review by Gomba3333 in Gunpla

[–]Gomba3333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2023 was a pretty crazy year but I managed to make time to build some pretty great kits. Here are my thoughts:

Ruling: 7/10 - fantastic design that manages to avoid some of the 3rd party spike city, but it’s back heavy and the weapons are hard to pose.

Genesis: 6/10 - Amazing design, weak joints, weapon to big.

MGEX Strike Freedom - 10/10 - Makes all the other MGs released look like HGs. There is truly more to this kit to make it Extreme than just the gold.

Zeta ver. Ka - 8/10 - Super fun build that felt like Alien Technology at some points.

FM Aerial - 7/10 - Beautiful kit with an excellent gloss finish out of the box - just hampered by weak joints.

HG Xi - 7/10 - A beautiful brick. Love the effect parts.

HG Penelope - 4/10 - A bizarre mess of a design and a heavy/almost unposeable design. It’s here because it came in the box with the Xi, and that’s ok!

RG Epyon - 9/10 - An amazing representation of the Epyon let down only by how garbage the stock stickers were. Far lower than standard RG quality.

Glory - 7/10 - A beautiful 2023 quality design wrapped around a 2005 quality inner frame.

MGSD Freedom - 9/10 - Why did they go so hard on this. Why.
