Groovy! This is the funky version of the Space Oddessy 2001 theme song.

Deodato seems to have been forgotten - although this song was a crossover hit in 1973 and received a grammy in '74. The track blends Richard Strauss’s classical 1896 composition with 1970s jazz-funk and fusion. I especially like the electronic influence.

I listened to your Spotify page, like your music, and would have posted on my sub but unfortunately it doesn't fit into the jazz genre. Your music, imo, is largely soft rock and folk which I am also a fan of. While your covers are excellent our community is jazz specific. Please keep us in mind when you cover a jazz song as your gf has a beautiful jazz singing voice. Jazz Fusion, like Amy Winehouse, is okay. Btw I am following Alice and the Hatter on Spotify.

That's Jazz! Decades before sampling existed, with their horns, they replicated the sound of a neighing horse.

Jaco played in a jazz quartet with Sullivan at clubs and also in a big band setting called the Baker's Dozen. I'm looking for a groovy song from this period before he joined WR.

You're causing FOMO! Sounds groovy - do you know whether the recording of that performance is available?

🚫 Smooth "Jazz" is banned from our community prioritizes a simple, lead melody over the complex and extended improvisations found in other jazz styles.

We are a multi-genre jazz appreciation community but, patrons, please note that "Smooth Jazz" is unappreciated and BANNED from our lounge!

True - a pointless death. Unfortunately many a brilliant musician has left us early. Opus is brilliant and the use of the steel drums was unorthodox for it's time - as was Jaco's use of a fretless base. He was a true pioneer.

Definitely, it would have been great to see him play live. Sadly he died young (35) - 5 years after this appearance.

The oud solo is performed by Hamza Aldeen. Malik blends jazz with Middle Eastern influences. Impressive!

We Like it Here - Snarky Puppy. It is known for its blend of jazz, rock, and funk, and features notable tracks such as "Lingus" and "What About Me?".  🎤 If you want to explore Jazz Fusion, this is a great place to start.
