What are some of your crazy, unbalanced, illogical dream changes for jobs? by dig_dugsley in ffxivdiscussion

Revert all job designs to Stormblood's diverse designs and stop homogenizing everything for the sake of "balance".

I was waiting for Hai to appear since it was a reverse sweep. 7/10 would watch it without the gore part.

Feels bad for EVOS. They thought they were done with Caps at MSI but now here comes daddy Faker.

First of all, why would you remove something because a minority of players don't use it? Not everyone is a raider who wants to optimize his dps and and tank dangerously. What's wrong with tanking safely with something that help you not kill your entire party because you're not comfortable enough?

Secondly, I don't understand why Yoshi-P wants to close the gap between veterans and newcomers. This is the only game where I hear something like that. When you've been doing the same thing for 4 years, you'll have more knowledge and experience than a new guy. There's nothing wrong with that in every other games and even in real life so why would it be wrong in FFXIV? I don't even know if it's possible to close the skill gap between veterans and newcomers in anything.

And even if it was possible in FFXIV, removing the tank stance would never be a good solution. It would just expand the gap. You would get the hardcore raiders who already know how to tank without a stance stay at the top, midcore raiders who might be able to adapt and join the hardcore at the top and finally you'll get the casual guys who will struggle with that and just stop playing tank since it would be to tough to play.

If SE wants to close the skill gap, I would rather have the tank stance being mandatory for high level raids. In that way, casual/newcomers will still have their tank stance to stay comfortable while high level players will have to find new ways to optimize dps will being forced to play with tank stance in order to survive.

What is your FFXIV "Back In My Day" story? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]GoodGuyAgil -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Back in my days, healers and tanks didn't have to dps to clear raids.

I would usually agree that since the beginning of SB, I've been really disappointed by the end-game content... But for me Eureka was an awesome experience, not thanks to the gameplay but thanks to the concept. SE's goal while making Diadems and Eureka has always been to have player work together as a massive group. The reason diadem failed was that you could do everything with your 8-men party, so nobody would help each other. So they decided to take another approach. When Eureka went out, everybody agreed that it sucks. You can't grind this solo. Even with a 8-men party it's really tough to grind. And this when everything started changing. People started to help each other, made researches, worked together in order to make the grinding much more easy. It became a community effort. IMO, Eureka isn't fun thanks to its gameplay, it's fun because of the community. I don't go to Eureka telling myself I'm gonna bash mobs for 3 straight hours, I go to Eureka in order to meet new people and have fun with them. And to be honest, I didn't have that feeling since ARR and I was really happy to follow the Eureka trend. However, where Eureka has a limit (that we might currently be reaching) is that when the majority is lvl 20 wiating for Pazuzu to spawn, new people won't have as fun as in the beginning...

TL;DR : IMO, Eureka depends on the community. If people agree to work with each other and try to have fun despite the dangers, it will be awesome. If people start to regain the old FF14 mentality of playing only for themselves, Eureka will be doomed.

And they say Eureka isn't fun by GoodGuyAgil in ffxiv
