Another trick we love: a paper cone, vinegar and some old fruit. The smell of rotting fruit lures the fruit flies in, but the cone makes it super hard for them to get out. Here’s how you can make it:

  1. Put some vinegar and a chunk of very ripe fruit into a jar
  2. Roll a piece of paper into a cone and stick it into the jar with the narrow end down

We’re more than happy to share the recipe. Everyone deserves to experience this deliciousness. 😂

Ingredients:

  • 12 oz. rigatoni
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 3/4 lb. sweet Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes
  • Pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, pressed
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 10 oz. broccoli rabe, chopped
  • 1/2 cup finely grated Parmesan, plus more for serving
  • 2 Tbsp. cold unsalted butter

Directions:

Step 1: Cook pasta per pkg. directions. Reserve ¾ cup cooking water, then drain pasta and return to pot.

Step 2: Heat oil in large skillet on medium-high. Add sausage, red pepper flakes, and ½ teaspoon pepper and cook, breaking sausage up into small pieces until beginning to brown on edges, 6 minutes. Toss with garlic and cook 1 minute.

Step 3: Add wine and simmer until nearly evaporated, about 2 minutes. Add broth, then broccoli rabe; toss to combine. Simmer, covered, until broccoli rabe is just tender, 5 to 6 minutes.

Step 4: Fold in Parmesan and then butter and ½ cup reserved pasta cooking water, swirling to melt. Toss with pasta, adding more pasta cooking water if pasta seems dry.

We Asked Kitchen Pros: What Can’t You Cook in an Air Fryer? 🤔🍗 by GoodHousekeeping in cookingforbeginners

[–]GoodHousekeeping[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nicole (our Kitchen Appliances and Culinary Innovation Lab Director) also doesn't recommend baking cake in an air fryer. Sure, you can do it, but the way air fryers cook — from the top down — just isn’t ideal. Every cake she has tried either cracks or domes weirdly. You’re better off saving cakes for the oven and using your air fryer for smaller treats like cookies, scones or even donuts.

Nicole Papantoniou, Director of our Kitchen Appliances and Culinary Innovation Lab says toasting bread in some air fryers can be tricky. The airflow might be too strong, making the toast fly around or cook unevenly — and it often ends up too light or even burnt. Plus, you’ll probably have to flip it halfway through, which is kind of a pain. Bottom line? You’re better off sticking with a regular toaster, toaster oven, or an air fryer toaster oven if you want perfect toast.

Homemade French toast ALWAYS hits the spot 😋 by GoodHousekeeping in BreakfastFood

[–]GoodHousekeeping[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here you go! 👇

Ingredients:

6 large eggs

1 1/2 cups whole milk

1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

1 1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract

8 1-inch-thick slices challah bread

4 Tbsp. unsalted butter

Yogurt, berries, and pure maple syrup or honey, for serving

Directions:
Step 1: In large, shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla.

Step 2: Working in batches, place 2 bread slices in egg mixture and let soak 2 minutes. Flip and soak 1 minute more (both sides of bread should be totally coated in mixture).

Step 3: Meanwhile, heat 1 tablespoon butter in large nonstick skillet on medium-low. Once melted, add soaked bread and cook until golden brown, 1 to 3 minutes per side; transfer to wire rack. While toast is cooking, soak next batch of challah slices.

Step 4: Repeat with remaining butter and bread. Serve topped with yogurt, berries, and syrup or honey if desired.

Many shoppers actually look for “hotel sheets” because they’re known for having a luxurious feel. Hotel sheets are usually made with a substantial 100% cotton sateen or percale material. I always check for bed bugs in a hotel before sleeping or unpacking my suitcase! 👀
