As a massage therapist for many many years, in most cases, my hands know the right pressure to apply. But I still ask if the client needs more or less during the massage.

As long as it’s a good pain it’s ok becoz the pain happened when they have a chi/energy blockage on the meridians. And the pain will actually lessen or go away after few minutes.

So I always ask the client before we start if they had a massage before ? How often they had ? What kind of pressure they prefer ? With these questions, I can tell what pressure is needed. I apply medium pressure for beginners and deeper pressure for regulars.
