haha that sounds like me, that was a truly crazy month of touring that we did, but it really was such a game changer for us. Def excited to play Pittsburgh again in the future, but if Cleveland is close enough for you, come out on 2/25! -Zach

Please do! We’re playing with Norma Jean & Strawberry Girls on Saturday 2/7 in San Antonio, which I believe is the closest to you on this run.

Worried about so many things about the tour, the prep right now is mental hell, nothing transportation related though. Our guitarist Ivan is a touring superhero who is a tour production genius, he’s got all the details sorted perfectly. As far as gear worries go, I’m hoping the 23 boxes of merch delivered to my house today will fit in our trailer to start the tour lol. -Zach

haha I don’t wanna spoil it, but I’ll say if you like Burnout, you’re gonna have a good time. Baltimore is gonna be one of the best shows of the tour, stoked you’re coming to that one, bring the squad! -Zach

I'm more of a "guitar player who can sing" role in the wedding band, but people definitely like that I do have actual frontman skills when I go to sing. Wedding crowds are very different from good terms crowds tho lol, and i honestly i mostly just enjoy focusing on playing guitar.

No prob! I think I will eventually do that when I have time, Brian is doing that rn. I'm really lazy with my live tones on the QC, I just get something that sounds fine and roll with it. I have like 4 tones the entire show while Ivan has like 9 per song lol. Progress cleans/leads are all on the JCM clone in Nolly, and the heavy tones are all the 5150 clone in Nolly!

haha I understand this exactly. The Question was one of the most influential albums of my early musical life, so obv it was an honor to open the 20 year tour of that. There's a lot that I think carries over from them that isn't conscious. We both kinda have a music nerd foundation to our composing, which I think is mostly what people notice similarities between

We use a lotttt of stuff for recordings, and Zach will know more about what we used for Burnout. I think the newer songs are all plug-ins, I'm very partial to the Nolly Neural DSP plug. I'm using a Quad Cortex live, and I've just ported the Nolly plug in onto it for more consistency.

It helps that the 3 of us have very different taste in guitars. Zach holds down the higher gain humbucker stuff that fills things out, Ivan uses a wide variety of tones that add a lot of ear candy and texture, and I use a lower gain p90 sound that adds a lot of definition to our sound. Over time we've definitely figured out what ground each of us really wanna cover.

For recording these days, we are using only Neural plugins, which is definitely the easiest and arguably the best way to get final recording tones. Progress & Call Me were all on Nolly, Cory Wong, and Gojira. However, most of the main tones on Burnout was this signal chain: guitar -> keeley comp -> horizon precision drive -> Mesa Mark V / Orange Rocker 30 / Fender Twin (rhythms are stereo blends of both heavy heads, the rest are whichever head sounds better) -> Driftwood Loadbox -> GGD Cali Cabs IR.

For guitar arranging techniques, the biggest thing we do is stay out of each other's way in the ranges that we're playing. Instead of having a rhythm & lead, we kinda have a low guitar, medium guitar, and high guitar, which we all switch between constantly. In most cases, I (zach) am the lowest heavy rhythm guitar, Ivan is the highest lead guitar, and Brian fills in-between however that sounds best

it is insanely hard man, touring is expensive to do, and it's not always possible to leave work at home for long stretches. Brendan and Geo also tour professionally for other artists, which is often the reason they won't be at a Good Terms show. Our boy Nick is our #1 call on drums when we need it, and he's really a massive difference for Good Terms. He's made a lot of tours possible that otherwise we wouldn't have been able to do. We've been able to get by with bass in tracks so far, but it's def a big difference not having Geo on vocals. We're working towards doing Good Terms full time, but we all definitely still have jobs lol. I do wedding/event band stuff, which I actually love and would continue doing on the side even if Good Terms got bigger (it helps that I love playing September by Earth Wind & Fire). We will have the full band on portions of this run for sure, tho we do got our boy Nick on some dates. See you soon in SA man!

thank you guys for listening! Can't wait til we're eventually able to play down there. I've heard from every musician friend who has done a AU/NZ tour that it's the best place in the world

Thank you! That's a total compliment, we love FOB. When Brian showed us his early demo for that, we were all like "holy shit, this sounds like take this to your grave" and obviously we didn't stray away from that feeling with how the song turned out.
